EA is nowhere near as bad as it used to be, only because they don't actually make any good games, they just try to buy everybody who does and publishes good games. Except Dead Space does look amazing.

EA used to make good sports games...when they had competition.

Every studio they buy, they ruin, Maxis, Westwood, and several others. Spore is going to be good because it was in development when it was still Maxis and for the most part they've let Will Wright do his thing and kept their grubby grease stained piggy fingers off of it.

Still doesn't matter though, I don't want to continue to finance their empire, I feel especially sorry for sports games fans who have absolutely no choice or variety in the games they play.

what have maxis done wrong lately sims2 was good, i guess they made a few to many expansions, but we dotn need to buy them.

[/quote]ea big is still good when it comes to sports games, and I will say madden 09 is a lot better than the last 7 years or so.

I understand the drop off in quality, but when you pirate you dont hurt the nfl (who put their license up for bid to 2k or ea) or the corporate bigwigs that rush the developers and wont take  "we need more time" for an answer. My uncle worked for Epic and as pirating ramped up over the past few years the low level guys  lost things like free games from the company, free lunches, company trips to basketball and football games, the action figures and other little things.  My uncle (he just filled orders for new computers, desk, chairs and stuff) and about 49 other people got layed off  because unreal engine 3 was running late. Who knows if that would have happened if there werent so many torrents of UT2004

But Spore won't make any sales if you pirate the game, which means Spore expansions(which WILL happen, I guarantee it) won't happen. They could shut down the network early, plus Maxis will lose inspiration to make another game similar or a sequel!

I can understand pirating old games since they're hard to find...but pirating new games is pretty gay if you ask me.

I'm only doing this if they have invasive copy protection.  Invasive meaning they limit my installs and/or the copy protection installs shit on my PC.  Bioshock for example was NOT invasive.  I don't often feel the need to install it on 5 different PC's.

EA is not "evil", they actually can publish some pretty great games that are made by repectable companies (valve anyone?).  But they do control copy protection and if copy protection is a problem with Spore like it's rumored to be, then you can bet your ass that I won't drop a cent to EA and instead mail Will my money directly.  Even though obviously, the entire team was responsible for the game.
