Trying to see if I can get a movie club going at my school, and I was asked by my possible sponsor what educational merits a movie club have. I'm jotting some ideas down and would appreciate it if you guys would let me know what you thought.

Quote:Educational Merits for a movie club:

Learning importance of cinematography, lighting, and camera angles.

Symbolism in movies

Being shown movies that reflected opinions on society at the time such as Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times"

Access to fun and public domain B-Movies such as "Night of the Living Dead" and "Plan 9 from Outer Space"

Introduction to forgotten genres such as Epics and Noir.

Use of the NFI's(National Film Registry) list of "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” movies.

An opportunity for students to participate and show their own short-films in a school-confined film festival.
(Possibly) They could compete for prizes.

If it's just a club does it really need educational merit? We had a ton of clubs that didn't really meet any kind of requirement other than having a teacher sponsor it (Warhammer club etc.) I had a video production class at high school, which was my second favorite class after electronic music.

Some other stuff you can add would be post-production and sound for films.

That's what I was told by my possible sponsor. I'm going to take the list to him regardless of my opinion and see if I can get this thing started.

It's not a club though. Also, I found out that it was my sponsor who wanted the educational stuff, he's a huge film buff. It won't be in their face, but it won't just be a "turn off your brain and watch" session either.

Well of course you won. You were using the backburner against a team of four.

What? Like only my team was allowed to use it?

Tournament rules state that Criticals are disabled, and by extension of this ruling, then it must dictate that the Backburner must for disabled for the tournament. The server critical modifier command does not disable Backburner's critical bonus and is an otherwise unfair advantage to every other class, including counter-classes. Further more, the additional health granted in the absence of criticals makes the the pyro the only class worth having in any offence.

I'm moving to have tournament rules modified to disable unlockables so that this tournament is decided by the best team, and not the best pyro.

my personal favorite
