Running a store is going to be hard, not just in the "difficult" sense but the "where the fuck is the profit?" sense: there's the rent and bills and you have to carry high dollar insurance especially since your inventory is so flammable but is also ruined by sprinklers.

You've got to consider that this economy is going to suck and most people can't afford new WH40K armies every 6 months and even the well-to-do parents of gamer kiddies can't afford to buy the minimum to keep your business from losing money. And if you lose money where does it come from? Savings? Credit cards?

So if you're in a good sized city, and you can reliably get a few hundred regulars to come in every time they get their allowance/paycheck, and you can deal with a bunch of whiny rules lawyers trying to negotiate discounts at the register, then by all means go for it. But I bet you'll come out ahead working for someone else, because that comes with a guaranteed wage.

Well I am unsure if this fits into fuck my life but it sure has been bothering me as of late, I am at the point in the road where I do not know what the fuck I am going to do or what even I want to do with my future, I mean me and some friends are thinking of making a sort of store, think of a store where there are LAN parties and tournies, trading card games being sold such as Yugioh and Magic (also tournies), our stock would be mostly manga/ anime, comic books and D&D shit (also have nights for that). See working at a place like that would make me content and happy even, but then there is the problem of opening it up, if it does good or not, and even the strong possibility of having to go to college for business. I suck at school.

Anyway TLDR version, I do not know what the fuck I am gunna do with my future and a store would be nice but very difficult.

If you're serious about it. Go online, do some research, and write a business plan. Then go to your local community college and take a couple business and entrepreneurship classes to learn the nuts and bolts of running a business. I'm doing the same thing write now (i'm in the research stage) because I want to start a food cart selling hot dogs and shit and eventually convert that into a brick and mortar business.

If it's something you really want to do, go for it.

This, but be ready because at least in the beginning, its not all fun and games, and you will be at the store for 6 or 7 days a week for 12+ hours a day.

On the plus side, its your store, so if there's downtime you can sit and game on your laptop or something  ;D

I'd say go the college route.

It'll give you many more options later down the road, whether you want to start up your own business or want to do something else by the time you finish.

Christmas is what keeps those stores open, surprisingly enough. They make at least 6 months of rent and payroll in the month of December alone.

Really depends on how lenient the store clerk might be. If you look old enough, then you are old enough.

If you don't really want to break off ties with your mom, here's what I did with my own father.

Yell at her at all of her faults and look at your mom in a mean way. Basically, act really mean towards her. Be polite, but act mean with your usual stuff around her. Works against my dad, who later apologized a couple days later (and he rarely apologize).

Thing is she does NOT change, I have reached many times where I thought she would. She doesn't. I do not wanna break ties with her so much as never fucking live with her ever again and have minimum contact with her. Because well, she is a bitch but she is still my mom. Even if I hate her.
