I've had this massive headache for a few hours now, and I've already taken 3 Advil pills with little relief.
And I can't balance this damn redox equation:

1 ClO3- 1 Cl2 + 3 O2

Course, I don't remember chemistry
Uneven amount of Cl and O; 2 ClO3- 1 Cl2 + 3 O2
It's actually

2H+ + 2ClO3- Cl2 + (5/2)O2 + H2O

The charges need to be balanced. Oh well, I still haven't figured it out so I'm going to ask my TA tomorrow.
ffs dude give me the whole of the equation then; i barely passed chem this semester
What.
The original unbalanced redox rxn was the first one I posted. The most recently posted rxn is the fully balanced answer, which I can not get because I am stuck at this one step of adding electrons to the oxidation half rxn.
you gave me only bits of the equation first, give the whole of the equation when you want it done ffs man
4H+ + 4ClO3- 2Cl2 + 5O2 + 2H2O
is the answer; 104 electrons on both sides; 4H, 4Cl, 12O on all sides
I think you misunderstood what I meant.
1 ClO3- 1 Cl2 + 3 O2  is the complete (unbalanced) rxn.
2H+ + 2ClO3- Cl2 + (5/2)O2 + H2O  is the correct (balanced) answer not what you had posted earlier, which was 2 ClO3- 1 Cl2 + 3 O2. And 4H+ + 4ClO3- 2Cl2 + 5O2 + 2H2O is just the correct answer multiplied by 2...which is redundant.

But I figured out how to get to the answer so all is well in the world.

Sorry Ensign, but Kase is right on this one. Just want to be a swaying vote before you two start bitching at each other.

uh... you can't have 5/2 of something, in real life or in a formula dude; you need to multiply it out for whole numbers
and yes i know you can have a lone oxygen atom but it's just wholly incorrect to notate as 5/2; either whole numbers (in which case, you need to multiply everything by 2) or notate the lone oxygen (which wouldn't happen) separately

Actually, you can. It's a stoichiometric coefficient; you're not actually stating that the mechanism uses half a molecule. It's just there to convey mole ratios.

so it's a molar equation now and not molecular?

About $100 of material went into Atom's backpack, and now I find that I can't sand down the plastic because the sander makes it just hot enough to soften the platic so I can't sand it. Im going out tomorrow to buy a rasp, but Im not sure I could work it down by hand in time.

Thankfully I made a second foam blank which I covered in the sheet plastic tonight and put a test layer of a plaster joining compound over part of it, that I can sand much more easily with a fine grit paper by hand and it will provide a nice smooth surface. To top it off once I prime and paint the stuff, it becomes much less brittle (I put a layer of it of Pies kukri, worked wonders for filling in wood irregularities).

Why not hand sand it? Doing it yourself may be slower and thus lower friction.

So, I'm just going to lay this out and you guys tell me how annoyed I should be.

about three weeks ago, I sent my aunt this email:
Quote:I've mentioned this to <redacted> before, and told her to talk to you and <redacted>, and, I was going to save this for Christmas, but I need a really good holster for the FOB.  Let me explain.  I've got two different leg holsters- a really cheap one and really expensive one.  The cheap one is worthless, just worthless.  The really expensive one is on loan from the army (actually it's the second holster the army has issued me, a Lieutenant Colonel i was roommates with at CRC absconded with the first one).  A leg holster is good for missions (I mean, it's exactly what I want for a tactical situation) but I find it pretty damn annoying when I'm just hanging around the FOB.  Around the FOB, it's form over function- does it annoy me to walk around with it?  Does it add 5 extra steps to going to the bathroom?  So, I haggled a hadji down to $5 for a leather belt holster, and like most of the stuff you buy from hadji, it's a piece of crap.  I give it another two weeks before it falls apart.  But after trying on some shoulder holsters and discovering I don't like them, I think I'm ready to get a really nice looking, good quality leather belt holster.  I'm sure somewhere around there is a saddle shop that makes a decent holster.  I'm not thinking minimalist holster here- there's nothing "conceal and carry'ish" about anything I do here.  You've got my check book, see what you can find, pictures are encouraged.  You can get me a belt with a nameplate on it while you're at it.  As far as care packages- I've got pretty much all I need, and I usually hit up <redacted> for Life Support items - razors, deodorant, etc, so send me something you'd think would eat up a chuck of my time, as I have an excess of it for the time being.  I'm always bad at thinking of stuff that'd "be nice to have."  Surprise me.

Sorry for the rant, it's been a slightly annoying day.  Thank you for all the help, effort and support.

I sent this after I had already been looking online for a holster, and the first place I looked was Galls.. their HQ is in town.  So I had already ruled them out.  Today I got a care package with this  How did she get that from the above text?

This thing is horrible. it sticks out 4" from my body, I'm hitting it on fucking door jams! walking with a normal arm swing is impossible.  I have to sit on the left side of chairs!  The only good thing so far is that my ACU jacket doesn't get bunched up around it. My platoon sergeant looked at it and all he could muster was, "well, at least it has good retention..."

Gah!

I'm assuming this is for a Beretta M9. Are you looking for something like this?

It's Kydex instead of leather but it's just a paddle holster so you could slip it on and off at your leisure.

Taking a trimmings from my plants to get rooting to plant outside for the summer, manage to need to get 3 stitches on my thumb.

That's what I get for using stolen xacto blades.

Had to be my tweezer hand, too. Work is really going to be fun tomorrow.

Oh man, I get to double post the FML thread in 2 days.

Not only did today really suck because I have 2 stitches in my thumb, but it also really sucked because I now get to pay $170 for an hour of in shop time for my car.

And also because I started today with 3 stitches, but one ripped out. And I bled all over a $7800* classified piece of military hardware that we're making for a company that technically doesn't even exist.

I wonder what RoHS allows for blood concentration in commercial products...

Gonna go ahead and say that Valve hasn't gotten to the military yet.

$60 of that was plugs and wires, btw. I had them done while it was in the shop anyway.
