First attempt at making sushi today, although I couldn't locate a fishmonger that had "sushi-grade" cuts (haven't touched other fish, risk of cross-contamination). So I settled for california and tamagoyaki instead. Actually came out pretty good:

The rice actually came out perfectly, but you need to use a fuckload of sugar/vinegar. Egg also came out great too, but that's because I had a special pan for it.

Dilemma:
Take an unpaid internship that would have me learn actual skills and have projects assigned to me in a biotech chompany that requires a 45min - 1 hour commute in either direction, or stay at home most of the time and volunteer at a hospital once a week for 4 hours.

unpaid far-away in emerging talent area > unpaid close in static talent area
Pretty much this.
You probably don't need to hear it from me, but be sure to make at least a few contacts while you're there as well. I know it's easy to  slack off when work is slow, especially as an intern, but do what you can to meet people when you get some free time. Go shake hands and talk to people, let them get to know you. The small talk might seem trivial now, but forming those professional relationships early can only help you.
My deadline to respond is tomorrow and my parents are both opposed (to varying degrees) to having me commute for an internship that they believe won't make much difference to me in the future overall, and also because they say that one of the family contacts will line me up with an internship next summer.

And now I have a massive headache.

Edit:

Fuck it, I'm sending a "I'm highly interested" email with a resume attached.

No need... I was guaranteed a spot if I said yes.

The resume only served to give the person looking at it an idea of which department I'd fit in best.

These?
Been meaning to try them out, the video has a generic recipe in the comments; just water egg and milk (I'd probably add sugar too). Not sure where they get the crusts from though. Also thinkin' condensed milk is better.

It was a free show though, wasn't it? And they had Josh Freese drumming. Guy is a fucking machine.

Pretty jealous of my father atm, saw the bruins, sans Tim Thomas, and the Cup yesterday at Mohegan Sun. Second time he's seen the Cup, too. first was @ Yale hospital ~2001 when a Devils' player brought it there.

Was free, ya.  I'm not complaining, I'm just sad that they had to end early because A) I've been waiting so long to see them live, and B) It was a great show, and didn't want it to end, hah.  Oh, and you're totally right about Josh Freese.  The guy's incredible.  Bang-on for everything, even with DEVO's irregular time signatures.
