Purge has some excellent newbie resources. I highly recommend reading "Welcome to Dota, You Suck" and watching a few of the Purge Plays or Pub Cast videos. Then just pick a hero or two that looks cool to you, read a guide for them, and you'll be ready to jump right in. Dota2AltTab has great guides. I recommend starting off with Lich, Lion, or Tidehunter. They're all simple to learn yet still powerful. |

I really don't understand Centaur. Like he is so out of line with all other heroes.

You guys should try something new and more relevant, Like League of Legends. A fresh coat of paint doesn't make a a game newÂ

Not to mention the more interesting items as well. |

LoL is still pretty good in terms of the streamlining and the basic mechanics, but Dota 2's complexity is what makes the game far more interesting. Regardless, both games have the worse communities. |
Also the fact Dota 2 has all heroes available whereas in LoL you either have to put in time to earn the heroes or outright buy them with money, which is shameful for a game that Riot is trying to push as competitive. |

I've seen Kor play LoL and I've never seen him play Dota 2 so I assumed this was the rationale behind the fact.

I played the WC3 version, and was dismayed when I read that little was going to be changed, but rather, ported to a new engine. I received a beta invite but knew I didn't need to give it the time of day. Watching the Invitational, and see the same tricks, lead me to make the coat of paint comment.
While I can agree that the depth of personal play is still there in DoTA, the decision to simply port all the same champs was not a compelling reason to play one over another. I saw a couple guys wanting to try it not even knowing if they've dabbled with LoL, figured I might save them some grief from being decimated while learning.
