Don't bathe in the blood or shit of ebola infected individuals and you'll be fine. What needs to be done is proper training of hospital staff. Have protective gear? Great! Now don't touch the outside of it when taking it off and don't scratch your eyes or lick your hands before washing them.

Canada's got you covered - Report from CBC this morning was saying that major centers in the Yukon and NWT are now equipped to contain Ebola. Real hotbeds of disease.

Honestly on the Ebola thing (sorry if I'm late to chime in) I think it's too soon to be all scared about it.
Like Didzo said, so long as you aren't coming into contact with the bodily fluids from an infected individual, you're probably fine. How often do you come across a pool of blood, feces, or vomit in your daily lives in North America? |

Went and bought some clothes today; long story short, I signed up for and was approved for Old Navy's credit card (gave me a percentage off the total purchase, hur dur consumerism).
Now I'm wondering, what sort of demon soul trap did I sign up for? I've always been wary of credit cards and their use, and until now have not had one/needed one. I was approved for a thousand dollar limit, which, okay, maybe if an emergency comes up I'll have good cause to use it. I will probably use it to fill up a tank of gas or something stupid when the card shows up but then I plan on putting it away somewhere so I don't keep using it. Am I making too big of a deal about this or is it really as simple as if you don't use it, there's nothing to worry about? tldr babby zais gets credit card wat do 'Meditation is supposedly the only way to Enlightenment because the only way to find this truth is through inner reflection - therefore, what you are finding to be the truth in your personal journey should ultimately be exactly what I find to be the truth, though all of our journeys are unique.'

What I do: Never spend more money on a credit card than you can pay off, regardless of spending limit, and pay at minimum the outstanding balance well in advance of the deadline. Credit grows and that's that. |

I do not like store credit cards, from what I recall they give you a discount or off some kind of 'no payment for X months' and people tend to then forget about the balance. After that they jack the APR up and you're paying through the nose for something. They're good for emergencies, online transactions, and getting reward points. Just make sure that you keep on top of paying off the balance every month and not letting it linger. Never make the 'minimum' payment, its how they extract more money from you by charging interest. Technically the least profitable (but lowest risk) customer a card company has is the person who pays off their balance in full every month. They make no interest on this person since no money rolled over into another pay period and only collect any merchant transaction fees. Also not using it is fine too, only a handful of companies charge a monthly fee. I believe the largest is American Express, their rules are a bit different than the standard credit card, you must pay down that card's balance every month and there's a general fee for simply having the card. if you didnt have a credit card before its good you have one now. Just use it regularly (once or twice a month) and always pay your balance for that month. It builds your credit score. If you feel like that card is going to suck out your soul for whatever reason (it wont unless it charges you annual fees or something) get one through whatever bank you use locally (as its usually free and has few or no service charges) as they will get you a line of credit through visa or mastercard or most other card providers.
I like to carry cash personally as it always sets a spending ceiling for me, and the credit card is there for online purchases or the occasional oh shit moment where i need a little extra on hand (06-15-2014, 03:27 PM)negate link Wrote:Hah elder you would be ramming it into Dtrains ass. |

I think everyone's covered all the major points. My only addition is that if there's no annual fee on it, don't rush to cancel it, as it can be to your benefit to have a fair pool of unused credit, especially accounts that have been open for a long time.

Caff: i remember from working at best buy their credit card had insane interest rates if you were late on a payment. corporate was always on our asses about getting those cards out. I got a Cabela's credit card. They're unique in that they actually operate their own bank and issue their own cards. Most store cards are just contracted with an established bank. But I get reward points to get stuff from Cabela's. My goal is to be able to get a gun for free.
