I had a delivery of five rackmount UPS' but since the security guys were busy I walked out to unlock the side gates.
It was super sunny, I am wearing my light coat (it was only -28 this morning, about -8 by this time) and sunglasses.

I unlock the massive padlock and pull aside the pair of huge gates just as the truck rolls up.

As the guy drives in, I give him the thumbs up... as a tandem pair of F18s take off and blast overhead.

So I got my laptop back today


The Good:
- Asus fucked up the shipping, they said i would have to pay for it, FedEx said no
- They replaced the Screen, the monitor power cable, parts of my case, the monitor power converter, and the motherboard
- They forgot my laptop was out of warranty and did not charge me

The Bad:
- MOTHERFUCKERS WIPED MY HARD DRIVE, I SPECIFICALLY SAID DO NOT WIPE THE DRIVE UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, THEY EVEN WIPED THE EXTRA PARTITION


+3 for the good
-1 for the bad


Edit: +1 More, replacing the motherboard fixed the broken headphone jack

They always wipe the hardrive. My MBP got wiped like 3 times and almost cost me a fortune in lost data alone. The last time I sat there and watched them and threatened them with pointy objects.

depending on how many you already had (and the quality of the rum), if it were me I'd probably be more upset about spilling the rum and coke

[/quote]And this is why you back up everything twice before letting any computer out of your sight. Unless you're sending it in for data recovery, you won't get back a HDD with your data on it, almost guaran-fucking-teed.

Well... two days ago I realized my Windows 7 RC was going to expire in about 15 days. I rushed and got bought a copy of Windows 7 Professional for $60 off this student deal thing from microsoft. Next day I checked it, turns out I only got the upgrade version. Those bastards switched it at the last second. So I was talking with cloud and he told me how I could do some haxin and let me upgrade right from the RC to the RTM, so I ran took a mile and a half bikeride in the semi-melted snow to walmart to pickup some DVD's (and a new watch since my old one snapped) and when I got back I found out I could have just executed the exe from the extracted ISO without burning it...

So, I backed my crap up, started up the installation, finished the second season of haruhi while waiting for the extremely lengthy upgrade to finish... and I can say now...

I GOT MY RTM ON! NO MORE REFORMATTING TO REINSTALL WINDOWS EVERY FEW MONTHS! ;D

Yeah me too, I still need to download W7 Ultimate upgrade.

I got a w7 key from a guy who has access to the MSDN so now I just get my lazy ass to hit the download button, get the upgrade edition so I don't have to format, and put the key in and plug-n-chug.
