I built a skeleton mame cab, but took it apart for other projects. Going to try and build a ply/mdf cab box and order proper controls another time. I was using PiMame for software.

Check out http://pimame.org/ , http://www.arcadecab.com/ , http://www.retrobuiltgames.com/ , http://hackaday.io/project/2090-raspberr...age-arcade , http://www.iliketomakestuff.com/raspberr...de-part-1/
Case, screen, speakers, hdmi monitor, input of your choice (sticks, buttons, knob, ball, etc, coin-op) usb breakout board for input, gpio for lighting controls.

I really need to get a roof rack so I can move 4x8 sheets home =/

while thats cool and all for arcades, i was more thinking for like nes/snes/genesis/etc.

was reading up on emulation station and things like that, really wanting to do one especially now since the RPi2 just came out so it could even possibly do n64 or ps1, maybe

edit: might as well post in this thread http://www.brbuninstalling.com/forum/ind...rdseen#new

I used RetroPie with a B+. Had a couple of old SNESes in my collection, gutted one and popped the Pi in. Still need to get some original SNES controllers, all of the 3rd party ones appear to be made with garbage. Plays pretty much every console before the PS1 and N64. I tried to get the N64 emulator working on it but no dice.

question for our resident gear heads.

I have a 2004 toyota celica gt, and I want to replace the ignition coils in it. Long story short, one of them burnt out a few days after I financed the car and I was fortunate enough to talk toyota into replacing the bum coil for free. Now that I'm past that, I want to replace all four coils with high performance COP coils but I have no idea what or where to look for them.

What brands are good? Any advice about this would be appreciated.

an example of what I'm looking at would be one of these http://www.pepboys.com/product/details/1211489/01036

Typically, the OEM COP coils are generally the best, at least in the Denso world. Dunno what Toyota uses OEM.
Every external coil project that I have worked on used MSD.

Good question to ask is why your coils are burning out. Bad grounding? Plug fouling? Oil contamination?

Only the one coil burnt out and that was at just over 100k miles on the car. It died and caused misfires so the one got replaced immediately but the 3 others are old. I want to do a full replacement of 4 so everything is 100% and fresh, and I want to make them high performance if possible while I'm at it. It might be more for the peace of mind than any real repair.

If that Accel brand is rubbish I will opt for Denso or Bosch coils.

There really isn't such a thing as a high performance coil pack, especially when it comes to COP. You either get good ignition or your don't (due to a number of issues, including poor coils).
I'd stick with Denso or Bosch. RockAuto ftw.

I'm not much of a Toyota guy, but when it comes to performance there is only so far you can do with little changes until you need to go FI. Didn't they make a TRD supercharager for that engine?

I'm a dummy when it comes to automobiles. I only know what little I've had to fix on my cars, which isn't much. Your advice helps a bunch, though. I at least know what I need now.

I'll be replacing the spark plugs at the same time as well.

So with spark plugs, I generally check them with every oil change: http://www.aa1car.com/library/reading_spark_plugs.jpg And check the gap.
Mind you, thats with copper NGKs (V-Power). If you never want to have to play with them, buy some platinum or iridium.

Remember, oil on the plug boots is bad.

I was already eyeing bosch platinum plugs. And I didn't know it was good practice to check them at each oil change. I still don't change my own oil, though.

What's this about the gap though? I know it's important but have no idea how to achieve perfection.

Ok so think about two things that aren't touching. In between those two things there's not those two things. That absence is called a gap. You measure the distance between those two things. That's called checking the ga- just look it up on fucking google jesus christ is is that hard?

I would guess if I had any experience operating on motorized vehicles it wouldn't be difficult.

yes, driving a car should certainly be enough brainpower to type "how spark plug gap"
