I sorta like the idea of making melee a primary weapon (flamethrower doesn't count) in tf2. I mean, the reduced damage does make quite a bit of sense really, otherwise he wouldn't be able to do much anyways. It'd be interesting to see what happens and whether or not I'll need a teammate to kill the demoman after he charges into me and starts bashing me against the ground.

Apparently reading the Steam forums, the Demoman is now the Charger from L4D2 XD Equip the shield and bottle, no health reduction, all the defense, and get more crit chance with the bottle.  Nice lol

hmm, that shield would be nice for bottling, but without a sticky bomb, I can't go all Flying Bottle on people. :<

Hoping the primary unlock is a cape from Super Mario World or something.

As an individual who mains the Spy, I both love and hate this.  I hate it because it will be devastating against Spies but I love it because it will (hopefully) force failspies to change to a class that they don't suck at so much.

If its one thing that can ruin spying more than anything else, its someone else on your team also going spy and sucking horribly at it.

Anyone try to find out what the 3rd is? I saw "Sco (rest of word cut off) Res (cut off again)" on the boxes. I figure it's something like Scottish Res (no clue).

Demoman sucks close range right now so this is the obvious way to balance that out. The shield is a very even choice between the sticky launcher but I dunno that sword seems like a buff.

bwahaha this is awesome.... i loved the shield in 1.6 - granted that changed gameplay way more than it will in this since there are so many varried classes, but still adds a great feature that will undoubtedly piss loads of people off and want to play on vanilla servers even more

Soldier is winning, I really hope people don't give their resolve up just because the Demo got an update. Stick to your guns grenade launchers.... or rocket launchers bottles.

Just because I switched to Team Pyro doesn't mean I didn't stop supporting our Scottish Troops.

Anyways, I have a theory about this entire thing. So put those aluminum hats on because it's time for another one of backfire's crazy theories!



CONSPIRACY TIME

Okay, so Pauling told the demo (or Travish) that the soldier accepted the deal. BUT however, nothing has been shown of the soldier accepting this deal, and seeing how the demo's weapons only were revieled once they were shown in the comic, I'm willing to bet the soldier was not met by Pauling yet. She only told Travish that the soldier accepted the deal to make him feel as if he's been abandoned. Later on, she'll tell the soldier the same thing she told Travish, he accepted the deal and is willing to kill his best friend.

Anyways, let's take this conspiracy one step further! Sometime during this fight, when either one pinned down the other or they're both down about to finish eachother off, they will find out somehow that the other didn't really want to go through this in the first place, that they would have rather stayed friends. They then both realize they were both lied to in order to fight each other. They then both come up with a plan to trick Helen and Pauling. Can't go into detail about how this will happen, but it will end up with both of them either acquiring or sharing the same new weapon.

tldr; both classes get the new weapon.
