He's got a mid to high range skill in every class. I've never really seen him dominate in one class, but that's actually a good thing. It seems flexibility goes a long way in this game.

OK I know we want to get this thing rolling, so here's my plan.  The captain (I'm assuming Kor or Caff) should lock down one of the servers, turn off alltalk and go spec.  Then all candidates will join.  Then the captain should just observe regular play, re-arrange teams tell people to play certain classes and pair people up as needed, and tell people to join or leave.  Based on what they witness and the leaderboards they should be able to gather enough information to start organizing people into tiers. 

So you have 1st tier for the must haves in a serious match, the 2nd tier for alternates and 3rd tier for people who are good but can't make the time commitment or aren't good enough.  3rd tier will be for the people that can fill up slots if needed or help train or play in non-competitive matches.  I'm assuming I'll be in the 3rd tier .

Anyways there's several factors to consider (class specializers vs all around players, team work players vs those that are good alone, etc) but I'm sure Kor, and Caff know what they'd be looking for.

Well, I think that's overcooking it.  I think at this point, most TFT/FNF regulars know who the candidates for 1st string are.

After that, it gets mushy between who is 1st string but slips because of schedule, who is a "tweener" but gets bumps because of versatility (or loses points because they are a 1 class wonder).  The with the schedules and tweeners the differences between 2nd and 3rd string blurs to moot for me, in terms practicality of organizing a schedule.

At this point, I think it comes down to who do the captains consider being 1st string.  In rummy's world, I have more than one player that I put in the top shelf of any given position.  If they (the great Captains and Admins and Gods of BRBU) have a good way of determining who is the best (e.g., for sniper Aerox vs. Vandam vs. Zoso; for engineer Kor vs. Joel vs. Greatbacon), so be it.  But, if I was in their shoes, I don't necessarily think a 1:1 would tease out which of those should be the absolute #1, nor do I think  forced mix-n-match of BRBU regs would yield that info.  I think it is far more likely that, on any given scrim date, one or two of the top tier might not be able to make it for the grudge match (that is, the third plus matches of a best of three, assuming Kor sticks to his plan of letting 2nd and 3rd stringers play some in the first 2 of a best out of 3 match) and thus the fine line distinction (who is a 9.6 vs who is a 9.7 on a 10 point scale) is a waste of time trying to figure out.

Eh my thoughts on the tiers were maybe not explained very well.  Since we have so many good players I figured 1st string would be basically the team we use.  Second string is the people that are great and could be on the team if there are more slots.  These are the people that can fill empties or work their way in to 1st string (maybe they can challenge someone a la afro samurai).

Third string are the people who want to participate but don't belong in the first or second string.  These people could be used to help sharpen the 1st and 2nd string in practice and so on.  Also for fun we can have BRBU playoffs (as in with other BRBU teams made up of 1st, 2nd and 3rd stringers in equal proportions).  This will give all 1st stringers (and maybe some 2nd stringers) leadership experience, plus it'd be a fun thing to do whenever.

Then maybe we could start a new board section just for the 1-3 stringers to talk about strategies and so on.  (make it hidden to keep those dirty TC folks from cheating)

But this requires a degree of organization.

I think you're talking about Versus..he has an .86 HPK, but he doesn't have a lot of statistical padding.

That being said..if I ever see him in a sniper class..I usually try to find him before he finds me. He is insanely good at connecting with the head...no pun intended.
