If you total what is there, Brbu has 64,123 kills.  MGR has about half that.  There is no stopping us.

from what I gathered when I joined the "community" is that it was just that...a community (you know like the tv show...), not a clan - so adding a clan tag was not at all to be a uniform tag, but more showing pubs that it was an actively run place with many regulars, so you could and were encouraged to wear any variation right from the start

That’s a great explanation. My initial thought was that it would be better advertising for the community if it were a touch more standardized, but I think what you said makes sense.

The tag always was and continues to be for shits and giggles, I wear one for visibility so at least you know someone from the group that owns the servers is there.

If anyone wants to wear one, they are encouraged to make it unique to them, hence why you see several groups. The tag variation I most often use `brb!u, isn't even recognized because of the ! in the middle of it.

I only wear the tag so that people know there is a mod there. We should get standardized snail and salt tags though to see who wins that war

The only thing I'm disappointed with in Stats is that weapon kills only track the last 28 days and not lifetime, because I really want to know lifetime reflect kills

brbu is a community like savage said, so it's kind of like MGR is a clan of the community. It's like having a city in a state.

But even so MGR kinda rapes when it comes to skill

It’s just a different focus. Saying that your tag is a place to express your creativity and that it makes you a special and unique snowflake is great for community unity. It’s fun, random, and thrown together and I can understand its history on this forum. 

I typically think about it this way. If I go on a different, non-brb.u server, and suggest that other players come on over and give brb a try, it’s a great way to get kicked/banned. Most admins don’t take kindly to somebody trying to advertise or poach players from their server.

Instead, I’ve had players from different servers ask me if |brb.u| is a clan, if I’m part of a clan, how can I be in a clan if I’m so bad, etc. It serves as a form of advertisement when it is difficult to get your name out on bigger servers. I even had some guys in a L4D2 pug ask me about it yesterday.

Giving Draconian rules saying “you must tag this way” is a great way to lose players, and I can understand why it isn’t an official policy. I am dedicated to trying to grow this community, and I am willing to at least donate part of my name to do so. I’m just surprised that more people haven’t come to that same conclusion.
