I believe its any kill that counts as a crit, that would include

Jarate, Direct Hit (mid air), Buff Banner, Kritz Kreig, Axstinguisher, and random chance

It also means that  its only one raw point, so a critical kill would be....

(Weapon Multiplier x Points for Kill) - 1

Almost any kill you get will be worth more than one point, I honestly can't think of a kill that wouldn't be.

I've noticed 2 times that whenever I move to a new map by RTVing it resets my session, losing all the points I've gained... although from looking at the stats page it looks like it wasn't lost at all.
