The life or death of the servers at night depends on the people willing to seed early afternoon. We have 2 servers and we can grow or shrink depending on our needs. We'd rather grow.
Now from my experience it only takes 8 people to get into the server at the same time to have the server fill. 8 people is also the minimum to have a great time playing (at least for me). So the big question is how do we get 8 people in the server in the early afternoon everyday to have some fun and not leave until there is enough people to keep it over 8. I think we need to bring back The Daily Grind, but not in it's previous form. So what can we do to support you guys and make it fun for you to show up at about the same time everyday, play with some regs and fill the server? Now it doesn't have to be the same 8 people it just needs to be 8. So what is the best way to motivate 8 people to help our server in the early afternoon so that when people log on at night they have a hoppin' server waiting for them? Because really the "S" Team is the most important team in the community. |

Thanks Surf for making this post :-*
We had some great seeding being done in December but its kind of trailed off as time has gone on this year. As TF2 is still the main go-to for the community maintaining the servers is still a big priority. I've always dreamed we could get a "self sustaining" server going by having a night crew, but alas this has never happened. Green box is still unproven if it can provide that kind of place, all be it, noobish. I'm very open to ideas as to how to get things seeded a bit better, from altering map rotation, adding mods, or what not. Right now despite my attempts to change it, seeding still seems to fall primarily on me :-\ And I think a few things need to happen, not just from admins, but from all of you to continue to make this place great - Expand your friends list - Invite others to the community See someone you like in game, got an old friend you used to game with? Toss them an invite, hopefully the new steam UI will make this a bit easier, any time we have a TFT or FNF I try to let some of the pubs in, if they stick around and have a good time, after the night is over I toss them a community invite, and I know for a fact that's how some of you got here, so it does work We're kicking around the idea of dropping Blue entirely, Green remains to be seen if anything is going to happen with it, and Yellow is funded by Tr1ck/Surf so that will stay around as long as they want it to. Red - The main Hub, custom maps + stock maps, more mature less to semi serious play Blue - Overflow, but I think it should be a hub in its own right - stock maps + silly maps, less mature less serious play Yellow - Under-utilized, stock + custom, serious business Green - ??? - this might not even stay TF2 very long after being load tested, we're eyeing BC2 when it comes out  Sig by Joel |

It's going to be hard, I think, to get people regularly showing up in the afternoon for these two reasons. I know I have major projects coming due soon and classes almost every afternoon of the week. I can't be the only one. I don't think it's a matter of offering things for people to seed. It's a matter of people simply are not available. |

[/quote] I have no idea because I have not looked into it, but that would be pretty bogus if it were true, a lot of TF2 servers and in fact all game servers, are run outside of hosting companies by people with their own boxes in data centers and a policy like that would put a serious kink on server operators. I should be able to seed early afternoons on most days. I get home around 2:00-2:40PM PST.
If you guys are thinking of getting rid of blue why not change it to what Green would essentially be? Have it be something that attracts players such as 24/7 Insta Respawn 2fort with RTV Stock maps, themes and something goofy like the TF2 Loadout Randomizer. TF2 Loadout Randomizer |

I'm willing to do my part as best as I can. I normally do all my homework in the afternoons, and Mondays/Tuesdays are particularly busy, but I can probably put forth a better effort on Wed.-Sat.
I really need to start adding some more people to my friends list though. |

Would it be easier to have a set time to start so all the seeders know or to just leave it up to the group that is available on any given day?
