Sign here if you want in on the next tourny. This time the only requirements are that you communicate with your captain especially on what days you are free and what days you aren't for scheduling. Teams will be chosen draft style. I will also need captain candidates to make it known to me you wish to be captain. Main criteria is being able to communicate with your team and work out match schedules with another captain.

*update*
I am putting up a vote to decide the format. Here are the choices explained:

Set teams - draft

We get a list of captains who draft from the player list provided in this thread. The pros of this are that teams are set and can name themselves and do whatever else they want to promote themselves. Cons are scheduling and showing up, we will try to keep it as flexible as possible but teams will have to field at least 4 players to participate on the agreed time or forfeit.

PUG style - dynamic teams

We still have a group of set captains but this time they draft their teams day of from a player pool. On each game day we bug everyone available to meet somewhere (tiny chat or IRC) where  you will get picked up to play on a team of a captain playing that day. Winning teams get points for all their players in a to be decided formula that me and Vandam can work out to be fair and as simple as possible. From this we will end up with a winning captain and the best players. The only other rule to keep things open will be that players who have not played recently will have to be picked before players that have recently played can be picked. Pros - will be easy to schedule and make up full teams/Cons - more complicated and we will not have a winning team but a winning captain and ranked players (Olympic style: gold/silver/bronze/etc.).

I'm up for it. I'm willing to be captain as well, but I'm not available until next week, and even then may be shaky what with classes starting again.

god what a clusterfuck.

i'd go back to the other format Surf where you had 5 or 6 captains that would pug a team from whomever is available that night (captains and/or players) +1's awarded to winning team -1's for losing team , persistent stat tracking would eventually show who had the best +/- ratio thus winning the competition, players with less available nights wouldnt be penalized for their lack of time due to the nature of the +/-

you could +/- by 2's for team captains since they're putting up the extra effort to organize , or +/- by 1 for each flag cap or round won (2 out of 3) steamrolls would result in a +2 (1+1) for the whole team , or close match would result in +1  (+1-1+1)

the flexibility of turning it back into a PUG system means no one will have to worry about each others scheduals. you could run the competition for 2 weeks , 1hr (2 maps) per night ?
have captains report scores into forum topic (screenshots if you dont trust them)

i realize i should have posted this in the other thread when you were looking for suggestions , but the creative juices weren't flowing then.

This seems like a simplified and more fair version of my plan. I like it. The only thing I wouldn't want is for the same people to get chosen over and over every time though. The main issue with the draft is that scheduling has not been the most successful for us so far, outside of that it would be the best way to run it.

Fuck it I'll do this BRB style and add a vote.
