Meh the earbuds are pretty lame, but you woulda thought that Valve would learn about how doing dumb 'exclusive' shit makes their community rage.

I dunno why people are in such an uproar over them, in 2 months they'll be exactly like halos, and if trading comes out (ZOMG DID YOU SEE THE HUGE TRADING HINT WITH THE SOLDIER HOLDING AN ENGY HAT?) pc people will be able to get them off the mac gamers who don't give a shit about them.

Actually its been pent up for _years_, like since the mid 90s, Halo was supposed to be the first Cross PC/MAC multiplayer FPS....until MS bought out Bungie and crushed that dream.

i think its just that humans are nasty things who have so much disdain for things that are strange or different. it's our instincts not to eat the mushroom because our parents never ate it. things that are different are usually bad so we are hardwired to assume everything except for the things we choose or like are bad. remember "halocaust"? people ripped into the other side because they were either A. cheaters or B. idiots for not cheating, when in reality it was just a way to get extra items that would be useless for atleast 2 more months (resulting in most people just deleting dupes) either way, it didnt matter, but EVERYONE (including me) got caught up in the frenzy

Don't feel alone, Diglett. I do the same thing, and I've never been taught.

Personally, I believe it's instinct to hate things different, because that was the prehistoric rule in our dawn, but instinct is not permanent. Drop any suburbanite with 0% prior training(No discovery channel either) into the middle of the woods, and he wouldn't last longer than a week. The hatred we feel for difference is just the shadow of the instinct, that was developed when everything killed you, because instinct dictated you had to kill(see crocodile, and how scientists are saying they run off of purely instinct).

but Allow me to bring it back to simpler concepts;

My theory on fanboism:

Technology is expensive. Most of us can only afford one type of dohickey. When those dohickeys are different and have different capabilities you have to convince yourself that you made the right choice. I made the right choice picking the 360 because it has more games. I made the right choice picking the PS3 because it is more reliable and makes an excellent media center. I made the right choice picking the wii because I love looking like a 'tard. But in reality every choice has it's pros and cons. If one was clearly superior the rest would go out of business and it wouldn't be a choice.

So you have to really dig deep to not only find all the reasons why your choice was the best but why the other choice sucks. Then once you solidify that image of why you made the most brilliant decision the fact that other people looked at the same set of information and came to a different conclusion is a threat to your process. They can't have made the right choice they must be idiots. The choice I made was the obvious one, why can't they see the obvious? They must fall for hype and image and be hipster douchebag morons.

This is all just a psychology construct to protect us from the fact that we can't have everything we want.
