So rumors are saying the Quake Launcher might be a promo from Quakecon, anybody else have other ideas? My thought is that or some quake bundle (or maybe they announce Quake 5 or something this year and it'll be for that). If it is a quakecon promo, I'll see if I can snag a few extra promo codes for people, can't make promises though.

Ahh true. I had heard stuff about it being a promo item given out there though as another possibility.

It does. It has a special "center fire" property to it.

Also, you get it if you buy Quake 4 or any package that includes it.

Iv'e got Quake 4 on disc, but I haven't installed it yet due to convoluted reasons, anyway that I can use my disc to get it on steam so I get a "Genuine The Original"?

Actually comp players have been asking for a center fire option for a long time, due to the mirrored layout of some maps, you can get an advantage firing around corners as a solider due to how much you have to expose yourself with the rocket originating off-center.

You used to be able to do it with a cvar (I think...)

They're probably just gunna make it craftable after the promo ends, just like every other genuine item if theirs.  Stop whining over every insignificant issue.

I've already played through Quake 4 probably a dozen times or more. I've been an avid fan of both Doom and Quake since I first started playing them on my 133Mhz Tandy
