They all look like trash.

I'm sure we'll occasionally see the new scattergun running flags or trashcans charging up the new rocket launcher around corners, but nothing seems really viable. Scorch shot? Knock enemies back? If only pyros could do that with their primary weapons...

Problem is..   With the 50% vulnerability a Scout now takes 45 damage per Flare. If the afterburn also earns a boost, which it does, each click adds another 4.5 to damage. Afterburn lasts 10 seconds, 2 clicks per second means 9 damage per second, which equals 90 damage total during the afterburn.

So... after getting hit by a single Flare, you only have 9 seconds to live without counting any extra damage you might get. It's worthy to note that a single minigun bullet reduces your life by a second.

That is why that gun is garbage.


Also the boost is nice, but you can't jump, making it totally useless


EDIT: NVM forgot about the 15% health bonus, which adds 19 HP, leaving the Scout with 144 HP, while a Flare shot would only do 135

I can see myself using the new SMG with the huntsman. Bodyshot for 120 damage? Piddle them for 5 hp, then turnabout their team.

That, and I kinda like the idea of the new scout scattergun. It won't be effective, but I GOTTA GO FAST.

Now if I can just get a swag spy item or two in the update...

The pistol will still have its use. Just as I don't use a sandman to counter a soldier because of the whole 110hp used-to-be-a-scout-like-you-til-I-took-a-rocket-to-the-face bit, you wouldn't use the pocket pistol when faced with many pyros.

In others news, the baby blaster's the scouts new phlog. More at 11.

None of the weapons seem particularly great.  Nothing I'd change.  The only thing that might be a bit nasty is the sniper rifle in the hands of someone like liquid.  For people who as a rule don't body shot at all, it's a flat upgrade.

Well, sort of. It's true that if you never bawdyshawt, the stated downside to this weapon doesn't really apply. However, the benefits are pretty negligible. Players like liquid tend to rely on quickscoping and will only charge up shots for things like heavies or sentries. In this, there really isn't a huge benefit to this, and in fact the "focus" can actually be a hindrance; not being able to unscope can be life-threatening sometimes.

It was everything I couldd have dreamed for! =')

I knew they weren't going to reveal anything.  If they did it would have killed the Pyro's mysteriosity and frankly made him less of a character.  I like the outcome.

I acknowledged that as well but I still wanted a little bit of history :/

There was also that little part of me that wanted it to be the scouts mom. They could've done something like the scorned lover of the spy considering the counter-class aspect would add to it.
