It probably defaults to last weapon used. I remember someone got that with planetside, there was a healing tool that couldn't harm anyone, well if you ever telefragged someone the kill box showed the last weapon or tool used as the item of death. Made for a few interesting screenshots.

I just got back from telefragging bots and its quite simple.
As caff said whatever weapon you hold when you go through the tele is the weapon shown in the kill message.
Now if you hold your toolbox its just the skull symbol like when you kill yourself by falling etc except with your name in front of it.
So Negate * stupid with the * being a skull. From my research it looks like if anyone on the other team is on or very close in a way that makes your hitboxes intersect they die.

i haven't had any actual telefrag kills where i'm the one using my TP, but i have had 3 instances where someone using my TP would telefrag someone (thus gaining me a kill).  ;D

I got telefragged twice as a spy in the same round.  First time I figured I'd just hang out behind the tele and get backstabs as the people appear for laughs.  Yea that didnt work.  So second time I was like screw that Ill just sap it.  So I clicked the sapper on it for like 10 seconds and someone spawned and fragged me, dunno why the sapper wouldnt place.  I was a bit upset.

The one that happened to me was because I didn't even see the damn teleporter.

I got fragged once. My baseball bat was taking too long to destroy the teleporter I guess.

It doesn't show the last weapon, as far as I know.  It's happened to me a couple times, and it just showed a skull.
