8/1/08 - Custom Rotation Inbound

For just this week only I'd like to test an all custom-map rotation and see how it works out. Now that the backburner is back into balance hopefully we'll start seeing some of the people that got burnt out on all the pyros start to trickle back into circulation. The one map for tonight is VilePickle's dom_canalzone_b3.

dom_canalzone_b3 - Quick turn-arounds are quick, played b2 on Tuesday and he already has b3 ready by Friday, I wish I could get starship revisions out so fast

Since #2 has customs on it now and its pop held up this Tuesday with mach4 and labor, hopefully we can put canalzone on it as well so everyone can get a chance to play it.

The quality of customs at this point makes an all custom server very viable and customs tend to attract a better class of gamer.  The only issue is that it can make it really hard to seed.

Basically the regulars need to try and organize better on #1 and the admins need to be around for #2 more often.  I think the way to think about it is #1 is mostly the server for us, those that have shown to be awesome and frequent the forums and like to have fun together, whereas #2 is for the pubs and the new people we want to come and try us out and join the community if they meet the basic requirement of not being an asshat.  Obviously this is just a general rule as plenty of pubs will still come into #1 and regulars are encouraged to go to #2 but it will go a long way to socially engineering what everyone seems to want which is a server that is community oriented and one that is very open to pubs.

I'd swap out Roswell, Turbine (which isn't technically a custom anymore), and Launchzone (none of which I like) for more CP_SCIENCE2!!!!

I'd take out Steel. It's my favorite map but I could see it emptying the server when it shows up, due to the long DL time.

But seriously, sounds like a good plan, needs at least one good pl map though... And if people can seed #3 in EU prime times (which are usually the times that #1/#2 can't be seeded) that would be great. I'll do it myself when I'm not too busy but I want to get busy on the site as well...

Steel can go die in a blender though... but I'll still play it.  Warpath should be executed for high treason (not because it's pyro unfriendly).
