What is the nature of truth, can something that was once true become false as time goes on?  What does this mean for truth as an idea that is supposed to be constant, unwavering?  What can we truly believe in if truth changes like the tides?

This thread that was once the biggest in the forums has ceased to be.  It has been surpassed by another.  The truth in the title of this thread is no more.  But as it is now false it can soon become true again if people so decide.  Does this mean that truth is decided by the masses, and changes when they feel like it?  Is truth nothing more than a shared hallucination?
