In the cblogs someone was putting together parts lists for budget PC's that were pretty kick ass.  I'm sure someone could help you if you want.  To just run TF2 decent you could probably put one together for $500 and like Kor said, it's pretty simple.  Plus you might be able to get some of the parts used or on sale.

It doesn't. The PC I play on now I built about 6 months ago for $600 (would've been $500 if I bothered with the rebates), and it runs TF2 on the highest settings. It is definitely doable on 1-3 weeks wages (depending on your wage of course).

Also, my brother complains about the utter lack of jobs there in Louisiana too. He's in Natchotoches, and about all they've got around town to hang out at or work at is the Wal-Mart.
