So I am looking to buy a new mouse.
I didn't expect to be barraged by buzz words about DPI and Laser over Optical and Scroll Speed, Low-Friction undersides, etc. I liked the Razer mice, but again I felt I was being sold purely on taglines. Basically I wanted a mice with Recessed Thumb Well with a button Not too bulky, moderate size So obv. not very picky and when I find a mouse with adjustable weights I kind of get put off. Help me out, tell me about your mouse, it's pro's/cons and price point EDIT: Thanks for all the ideas, I bought A G5 and I am happy so far. I got this logitech gaming mouse that "let you change dpi on the fly."Â Honestly it mostly just screws me up.
I mean you all know me, I game on a laptop. I'm into the simple. For the longest time I was using a notebook mouse that got lost in my hand and was happy with that. I dunno why I got sucked down that same hole thinking it would improve me experience or something. But to be honest I'd just recommend going to the store and seeing which one fits your hand the most comfortable, and then buy the cheapest one of that. |

[/quote] Boo! I have one I got off of a friend and honestly, I don't like it. It has a fuckton of buttons, but as far as I can tell, I can only do very limited things with the software for each mouse button. I also have a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer, and it comes with software that allows you to write custom scripts for each mouse button. Very win. I'll admit, if I knew anything about actually writing scripts beyond simple binds in TF2, I'd love my Logitech Gaming Mouse. But as it stands, Microsoft wins this round. i'm a G5 user as well, but i wish i had the newer one with both the 'forward' and 'back' buttons, mine just has 'back', super handy for speeding on the internet highway. it is weight adjustable, but it's not that hard to figure out your style.
it doesn't have THAT many buttons, but they do come in handy when you want to have, say, mouse3 button bound for talking in vent, mouse4 for talking in game, and mouse5 for killing yourself in TF2 |

I'`m sporting a Logitech Revolution, and its sensational. It is higher on the pricing list but it does have a recessed thumb grip and wheel.
In addition to Setpoint not being everything mouse software should be, and any logitech user could make great use of this phenomenal addon for Setpoint: UberOptions. This addon completely destroys Logitech's failboat cruise, enabling your mouse buttons to be programmed to do anything. Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. G5 ftfw, but if you want a recessed thumb area or whatever, go with the Revolution.

That's the failmouse I was talking about, but maybe now it will be everything I was hoping for. And to think, I only paid $15 for it. Meh, I'll stick with my standard cheap-o Microsoft Optical Mouse. Nothing special about it, but it fits in my hand perfectly (which a lot of other mice I've tried don't) and is definitely worth more than its $20 price tag.

I really need to get a better mouse. Right now I'm stuck with the POS model that comes with every Dell. I've been experimenting with my shooter gameplay with my current mouse, and with high quality models at gaming centers, and I've noticed a marked difference in play ability. Basically with my mouse I suck at shooters that require fast reflexes like COD4, Counter Strike, and Unreal Tournament. One of these days I'll splurge on a good mouse to get rid of my handicap.

I have a Razer Copperhead. I like it well enough, and it can change sensitivity on the fly, but I never really need to do that. I had one of the original Boomslangs, which was probably my favorite mouse ever. I'll admit it's pricey, some might say overpriced, but it's survived many a beating when I get back-stabbed by some clod.

Uhh, no it isn't, Kor. Mine's always on 2000 DPI; I never adjust it unless I'm doing something very delicate in Photoshop.
