Obscure Half-Life Mod Thursday 5/1 *Please let me have my lappy back edition*

We're trying to decide if a dedicated server will be necessary tonight, and it would be nice to know how many people we should expect. Also, it wouldn't hurt to play a round or two and then take off to play something else!

It's kind of shitty but it will pass.

The emperor penguin is a very interesting animal.  This species of penguin generally has a black and white coloring, with a yellow and orange tint on the side of its head.  It is found exclusively in the Antarctic.  Like all penguins, the emperor penguin does not fly.  It has watertight feathers, a streamlined body, and wings that act as flippers for optimized swimming.  The emperor penguin also has very intriguing aspects to its lifestyle. 

Every year, emperor penguins must walk up to 70 miles inland to breed and have their chicks.  A male and female will raise and protect one egg from blistering winter winds, and the terrible chill of the arctic.  When the egg is made, it quickly must be sheltered from the cold.  Females go back to the sea to feed, while males warm the egg until the female comes back.  Males have a special fold of stomach skin near their feet where the egg is kept warm.  The males must wait a very long time before the females come back, so they can store food to go long periods without eating.  To survive the cold, males huddle in a large pack and move around to keep their body heat. 

Eventually, the egg hatches, and baby comes out.  The baby has a down covering before it molts.  The baby soon gets hungry, but the male is ready for this. The male coughs up some saved food specially stored for this moment, to tide the baby over until the female comes back.  The female comes back, and they switch positions.  The male goes to feed, and the female takes care of the baby.  When the male is eating, the baby grows and gets stronger.  When the male comes back, he must be able to hear his mate’s and baby’s cry to find them.  Then couple reunites and leaves the now older baby to get stronger.  After getting old enough, the babies go back to the sea, their home.

Tonight was a failure as well. There were a grand total of 5 people who showed up, 4 who actually played (Versus you fail some more). Maybe we should ask that people only vote if they plan on actually attending?
