All of a sudden a couple days ago my character models turned a weird shiny whitish color. Every other model/texture in the game is fine.

There was a setting for the nvidia drivers that used to say "may increase performance but may make models shiny" and I can't remember which it was and the wording has changed in the latest ones. I saw it happen once on a sentry on 2fort, but not since. If you remove the driver entirely it should reinstall with default settings. http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Dri...-1655.html <-- that should work if you don't have one P.S. Yay for a kill! I used to have a nice signature, but I can't remember it. |

Oddly enough reinstalling didn't fix it.
I finally got it to go away by sticking -autoconfig in the launch properties to reset everything. |

Do you run in directx8 or something? I see this happen to everyone who does. Good job getting it working though.

This exact issue temporarily happened to me the other night on #2... My game locked up for about 30 seconds, and when I came back my models were all in the same state, and all text was weird and matrix-like.
Restarting steam fixed it for me. |

First step should always be to verify the GCFs, defrag, reinstall from GCFs. Failing that, reupdate steam by vaping everything but steamapps. Failing that vape TF2 and the GCFs. Failing that, go after drivers and whatnot.
<+Karrde> welp, time to learn some basic patterning skills <@Negate> 12121212121212121212 <@Negate> there is a simple pattern <+Karrde> I changed my mind. Gonna cosplay as a gay demon from hell and get negate raped instead XD <+Caffeine`work> Karrde: Gay demon? Why would you need to cosplay just go as yourself <+FlyingMongoose> Caffeine`work: Karrde would actually have to tone it down some. |

Here are some screens I took before I restarted steam... I thought I got some of the models, but I guess not.
