Do I really need to introduce myself?

So yeah, mmmkay, I'm ainmosni, which is my old nick insomnia in reverse. I live on a boat in Amsterdam which makes for a lovely place to live.
I'm a 26 years old System Administrator/System Architect/Programmer with a love for Open Source. (FreeBSD in particular but I use a lot of Linux as well) I've been gaming/coding on my C64/MSX from a very young age but my love of games (in particular PC games) didn't start until I got an 80286 on which I could play Monkey Island, Prince of Persia and other classic PC games. After that I got a NES and I loved playing Metroid, Mario and Zelda. After that I kept with PC gaming and the SNES and got into FPS'es with the advent of DOOM and Quake. I kept playing FPS'es until I got burnt out by them around CS 1.5. I haven't had a console after the SNES until I got a DS and a Wii afterwards but I kept playing PC games. TF2 has been the first online FPS that I really like.

For the rest, I'm an admin on the TF2 server but I rarely see the need to ban people but that's more because of the timezones I guess.

Question about your boat and such. Is it normally docked? Do you have land connections for power, internet and such, or do you use generators and wireless?

Seriously, I'm curious. Living in a boat seems really cool.

I'm docked most of the year and I have land lines for everything I need. For the rest I don't have neighbours so I can play music at 05:00 and no one will complain, the location is great as well, it's in the center of the city but it doesnt get too busy as it's a little village in the centre of amsterdam. I can crawl home from any party i go to....

I just want to let you know that you've convinced me to visit Amsterdam with your collection of images you posted in that older thread from about a month ago.  I've since pushed the photos on others, convincing them to make it out there sometime as well.

And you're right, bashing the U.S. is fun.  I can't help but to do it either
