I poked around a few mods, and found a great camera changing mod for TQ and TQ:IT. You can change to a standard Isometric or topdown view easily, and there's also a way to rotate the camera thanks to some ridiculous programmers and their ilk.

I haven't been able to figure out the rotation mod yet, but looking through the ini it looks like you rotate via [, ], and \ keys. heading back in game to check it out.
