Computer problem.

So, I've been having this problem recently where I'd turn on my computer, it would do a funny beep, start normally, but there would be no picture.  In order to fix this I need to unplug everything, reinsert the memory and it would work peachy.  Then today it acts up again, so I do my normal routine, but this time there was no weird beep, but there was still no picture. Unplug everything take out the graphics card and reinsert it, then it works.  But while loading windows the whole computer just shuts down now.

What do you think is the problem? Overheating processor? Motherboard? Graphics card? Memory?

Are you monitoring your temps?

Also have you searched for updated Drivers/BIOS?

Download Speed Fan and RivaTuner if you haven't already to monitor your temps and let us know what they are.

seconded.  My guess this is the initial problem that, if left unchecked, could also cause the failures Vandam suggests.

I had very similar symptoms a few years back, and I usually hit the reset buTTON and things worked.  what was happening was the PSU was just at/near overloaded, and when I hit reset it warm-booted (which it could handle easier then a cold-boot).  The cause was I had swapped out NICs, and the replacement nic had a slightly higher power draw, which pushed things over the limit.

If you added any components lately, try removing/unplugging them and see if that works (I wound up uninstalling the second cd drive).  Though, it could have already caused a short which could have burnt mobo or ram as VaDam suggests.

When starting my PC it would shut down at random times.  I looked up these kinds of problems online.  Says it could be overheating.  I quickly booted into the BIOs and checked my temp to check. Sure enough, the damn processor is at 85 degrees centigrade.  So I took off my heatsink, cleaned it, re-greased it and it worked.  My four cores are currently at 60 degrees. The stock Intel heatsinks are complete shit, it must be said. So I ordered myself another heatsink so I don't have to go through this shit again. Thanks guys <3.

Yea, definitely sounds like a temp problem.  Let us know if you have any troubles after installing your new HS.

pewps, i run a scythe ninja rev. b on my quaddy and it runs at 21 degrees celcius idle, loveit! then again it's in a less-than-room-temperature room as well.

A good case can make a huge difference in your temps.

For example look at my clock speeds and volt-mods, my GPU idles at 38C and loads at 45C,  my CPU idles at 29C and loads at 38C.
