Where you looking, Surf? It shouldn't be that hard to find an ISO of the basic XP, or even one with just SP3 integrated.

General search and on the pirate bay and what not, I was hoping for a custom like tiny xp to strip out the crap.

The desktop will be used for internet, wife's schoolwork and games.  Actually in that order of use too.  So I don't need the whiz bang flash.  Just the nitty gritty.

As I said in IRC, I would always recommend nLite over one of these ready made jobs. I don't want to be using an OS that has been cutomised to someone else's requirements.

(Edit to correct a typo, even though Surf's already quoted)

I fully agree, unfortunately I lost my copy of xp so I can't create one.  Unless I can get just a regular unhacked ISO, which is actually pretty possible now that I think of it.

And by lost I mean really lost, I still have a serial # though.

If you're only using a system for internet and typing, I'd recommend ubuntu or Fedora.

I'm dual booting ubuntu I've been very impressed with it.  It's on my wife's laptop.
