But if Ash and his parents already knew he was homosexual and that is indeed why they split up, why would every love interest that Ash supposedly made up in his mind be female? How would his parents know if he himself dident? That would mean his parents got divorced over the speculation that he MIGHT be gay. Which is a pretty idiotic reason to divorce someone (Not that divorceing someone because what you both spawned was homosexual in the first place.)

Not at all unlikely and, to his parents, probably not a surprise. They ought to know him best and probably had some sort of... inkling that MAYBE he was gay.

Stupid to break up a marriage over it? You bet it is, but that doesn't stop it from happening. That would probably put quite a bit of mental strain on him too, and were I in a coma after knowing that my parents broke up because they thought I was gay, you can bet I'd be trying to dream up ways of making it all right, ways to make my parents change their mind.

Ash's parents broke up because of his homosexuality AND some other catalyst (ash's mom not being ok with him not being home all of the time like the kid from ruby and sapphire whos dad was a gym leader and never around). Remember that misty dawn and the other girls are figment of ashe's imagination. Now I dont know about most of you but if I were to dream of travelling with a girl my age for years it would have ended in relations not just her walking away.
