CTDS Disappoints Me :(

Seriously. They just ported the game. Nothing is changed, practically. The trailer pretty much shows that.

Chrono Resurrection on the other hand had SO MUCH POTENTIAL. I can't believe that Square Enix gave them a cease and desist letter, or they just decided to give up. It looked beautiful, and it was just improved graphically. Luckily, there was still a beta released to some lucky people, and they got videos.

Most of the video is just the extra stuff, but near the end there is some walking around and a fight. Now after some more editing around, think of what that battle would look like.

Presumably they announce it because they need help with the project and that's a good way to get some.

Yeah though, I do with some of those people would just keep working on it privately... I remember a DOOM mod for Quake 2 way back when. Pretty much recreated the original game, but then they got a C&D.

I'd play the shit out of that game, looks awesome.  Makes me sad that they had to can it.  Squeenix should have just fucking hired them and bought the work they already did on the cheap (since the alternative would be legal action against them anyways).

for all we know they may have hired them and had them work on DQVIII since the graphical style between the two does look very similar, and not just because it's toriyama character designs

Remember, Chrono Ressurection was never going to be a full remake, just a partial remake of certain areas of the game (that's what I remember anyways).  It sucks Square won't redo it like this though.  At least we got some good music tracks out of the project...
