Yeah it looked like "the germanz" to me to.

I'm not sure if we're going back via Chicago, I think for some reason when all the bookings was being done, they booked us through Denver instead. I wish we were going back through there though it would be super nice to meet up.

I got to thinking while we were wandering around downtown the other day that if there ever is a meetup somewhere, its not really all that much of a hassle to get there... if we have the money it would be SUPER sweet to do it. I think we just needed to do some travelling and experience some of the bigger cities and moving around in them to see what it was REALLY like.

Wow, we did a minor bar crawl tonight. We only stopped into bars with live music, but $2 a drink can't be beat.

So far my training consists of: free breakfast, hour of overview, free snack break, hour of demo not functioning, free lunch break, hour of watching techs and engineers fiddling, free desert break, demo over, go home at 2pm.

Plus I am getting an extra $130 a day to be here Tongue

Well here we go, this is what our weekend was like!

On saturday we all got up early, meeting up at the van at 8 a.m. We were going to head down to Corpus Christi and see the Gulf of Mexico. It was a bit of a long drive and the morning was a bit dopey for us, as we were all a little bit tired. But after about two hours or so we were there!

We headed to the tourist info center, and then down to the coast. Of course by now it was getting later and later and we were getting hungry, so we found a fish shop right on the water to eat. It was hard to find at first but we made it; and it was totally worth the wait.

After that we headed onto Padre Island, which wasn't a very long drive... it cost like $10 to get on but that allowed us to park anywhere and do anything. We got to a public beach with nice showers and the like, and before we knew it we were swimming in the Gulf of Mexico! The water was so warm and nice, clean and beautiful, if a little salty. We stayed here a little while but Kyle and I were starting to feel the sun so we got out and went for a drive along the beach. We actually just... drove along an area of the beach where you just backed your car up to the water's edge and stayed there, fishing or swimming to your heart's content. We drove around here for like an hour, got a picture or two, and then headed back to Corpus Christi.

We wanted to see the big ship at the port, the Lexington, but it was already getting late and they were about to close, so all I got was a picture. It was a big aircraft carrier thingy, used at Pearl Harbor. It was nice to see from a distance but I wish we could have seen inside.

We tried to get to the Salt Lick that night but the GPS didn't know where it was and it was getting late, so we just grabbed some KFC (or tried to, as the guy taking our order was fucking stoned and they were out of everything) and went home.

The next day we just did some shopping, visiting a Fry's electronics and a super Target. Got some groceries and hung around at home a bit, then we all piled into the car for the 20 minute drive out of town to get to the Salt Lick, now that we knew where it was. We found it after a very nice drive in the country, and wow... when we got there, there was a HUGE wait of about an hour and a half. We got our little buzzer they would set off when it was our turn and then headed up the road again to get some booze... the place was BYOB.

We got back, relaxed a little listening to the live music, and then finally we got inside. Holy shit, this place was awesome... such a neat building and a cheap but delicious BBQ meal. We had a good time and then headed home.

I'm super glad that we spent all that time together on the weekend, and fooled around all over the country. It was neat to see different areas of Texas and I'm so happy that I got to swim in the gulf! :3

United's not that much worse than anybody else. I flew American when I was coming back from Europe; it was a one-and-a-half hour connection from Chicago O'Hare (sorry, Caff) to Raleigh-Durham. A lightbulb broke on the plane while it was taxiing to the gate.

It was delayed overnight.

Yeah, I actually really like Texas! It's been fun so far and the heat isn't really all that annoying. Maybe 'cause I know I'll be away from it soon...

As for United, yeah they are probably on par with other airlines, it was just twice in a row and their refusal to call our airport in Winnipeg to confirm that there was no weather issue that pissed me off and tarnished their name specifically.

United is shitty, apparently Delta is shitty too; a girl in my class had her airplane fill with smoke on the runway and got to slide out the ramp-thingy.
I was super surprised that there was no entertainment on American airplanes. I'm used to satellite TV, on-demand movies, TV shows, radio, GPS, interactive games, etc. Thats coach on Aircanada/Westjet, and you can take two pieces of luggage on board without an extra fee.

I am pink. Super pink! I some how got super burnt while swimming in the golf. I used sunscreen, but I guess not enough. I'd upload pictures, but it sucks to move.

One thing I have noticed about Texas, is that everyone has tattoos. More people have tattoos then not.
Explains why there were so many tattoo studios downtown; bar, bar, bar tattoo, bar, tattoo, bank, bar.
