I would just like to say that after a few weeks of use, I fucking love my new G5. I know a lot of you have bought new mice in the last few weeks. What did you buy, and how are you liking it so far?

So, based on the overwhelming recommendation of so many people on this thread, I'm getting a G5. This is almost three times more than I've ever paid for a mouse before. You fuckers better not all be lying to me about how good it is. Tongue

It's a conspiracy! I don't even really own a G5, I was just singing its praises to try and fit in with the cool kids.

I got a G9 myself, also quite nice, had to get used to the damn high resolution though...

I went from a shitty MS mouse to a G5, took me over a week to get used to it

Well...it probably won't make a significant difference in your game. But it is nice and shiny and it feels good in your hand. And the weights are really cool.

Just to chime in with everyone else, I too am using the Logitech G5 gaming mouse. But I'm curious to know what you guys have your in-game sensitivity at because it was my understanding that the lower it is, the better. I think I only have mine down to 2.0 but does my assumption have any merit?

I find 10 to be the perfect balance between quick 180s and maintaining some semblance of accuracy.

Depends on what you have all your other settings at. I keep it at 2000dpi, standard windows mouse settings. 2.0 or so sounds about where I keep it, though I use zoom_sensitivity or some such nonsense to drop the sensitivity whenever I'm sniping.

G5 is easily the best mouse I've used so far. Smile

I use the godamn big bertha of mice. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6826104158

Logitech MX1000, first gen lasers shooting outta every nook and cranny.

Some of those fancy shmancy gaming mice, they aren't BIIIIIG enough. This mouse is like a brick. A brick that glides.

After insane amounts of use, the rechargeable battery in it STILL WORKS. Testament to the craft of miceworkmanship.

Deactivated for a reason I'd say.

Tonight's Woot is 1 Razer Diamondback 3G Gaming Mouse at $30. Not a bad deal if you're looking for a gaming mouse.

I bought it!  So pretty and shiny *drools*
I did buy this off that Woot deal because the Logitech thing I use is okay but annoys me in several ways.  Initial impressions from a night of TF2'ing: I don't care for the side buttons.  The scroll wheel is an improvement over previous mouse with better indentations for weapon scrolling.  1600 dpi does let me sweep the screen faster, so yay, gaming mouse mission accomplish.  It has a little more heft than the old one, and I like that.  The ergonomics of it are decent, I guess, but on an odd note, the tactile bumps on the right side for the buttons are kinda.. sharp.  They're bothering my poor pinky finger.  It's very sensitive Sad .  The mousewheel is an appealing green beacon, and the side lighting is subtle.

Those goddamn side buttons, though... either I'm going to have to get used to them or they'll drive me to anger.  Side buttons are a deal breaker!  That's why I'm squinting at them so hard!  I disagree with them making one rocker button piece for each pair of side "switches".  I would have preferred they just fuck it and have one button on each side instead of doing that.

I'm still debating on whether I like the mouse, but it feels like some quality, so I'll keep playing with it to try to like it more.  Score for now:  7 / 10.
QFT. I hate the rocker button. I like side buttons: I've set my MB5 (front left side) to Voice Chat in every application, and it's the handiest goddamn thing evar. The way I hold my mouse, my thumb is just below that, I can easily move up to hit voice chat and hold it while I continue playing normally. Much more comfortable than the two-finger shuffle that keyboard hotkeyers do. But with the rocker, I often end up hitting the back left button, which causes untold carnage. Once, I was calling battle strats for an instance in WoW, meant to press MB5, and pressed MB4. That's "Autorun". I charged and got mauled by a million fucking whelps. Youknowwhaddaimean?

Otherwise, the Diamondback is equally or slightly more ergonomic than my MX518, but much smoother in motion (on any surface, the Teflon is just... better, I guess). So, I end up overcompensating if I'm tracing somebody's path with, let's just say, a minigun (;D), but if I'm responding to a threat on pure reflex, it's much better.

I do not appreciate the sensitivity rocker on the right side. It's way too accident-prone, much like my 518's window-swapper.

Anybody use/hear stuff about the Microsoft Sidewinder?  It's under $40 on Amazon right now and it's tempting me to replace my shitty dell standard mouse...

That's my current mouse, and let me tell you this, I LOVE it. <3 I think it's much better than any of the others I've used so far, such as the Razer CopperHead, and most of the other "known" gaming mice. =P

Cool, I'm either gonna get one of those or a g5- i'm gonna take a look at them first at a best buy or something.

Just Kartz, do you use the macro function on the sidewinder?  I'm just wondering where BRB!u stands on the use of macros (like quick-turn macros, rocket jump macros, cloak&disguise macros, etc).  Are they fair?  Hax?  Are some OK but others aren't?  I'm just wondering where the community stands on their use, and if I'd be looked down upon for using them if I get that mouse.

I don't use a single macro for TF2. :> WoW, however, used to be a completly different story. xD
