It's simple. It seems a lot of people, myself included, would prefer NO CLASS LIMITS. If there are certain times you think it should be limited, ie after a class update, just vote No and post when you think they should be limited.

I think there should be no limits, ever. Telling people how to play is just not fun. And even if a team spams one class there are ways to counteract it.

after class updates, so annoying to have the game break down for a few weeks.
I frequently play heavy, and I just don't want to duel 50 other heavies. |

A reluctant yes, because while I don't like the idea of being forced to play the class that wasn't your first choice, people will still change to, say Sniper on dustbowl, even if there are already two or more of them. I've seen 6/12 snipers on BLU, third cap, first point :

Steamrolls are one of the fastest ways to empty a server of people and an admin's #1 job after rule enforcement is to keep the servers as full as possible as often as possible. |

Also a reluctant yes because it's not as much about spamming a class to win but fail pubs that go for an unneeded class when there already are enough...

I ultimately answered "no" because I think a software limitation is something to stub your toe upon. I'd naively prefer an honor system of class limits. Yes, I go Medic / Heavy (and sometimes Scout) by default, but if there's already a couple of them, I choose a class with no one or a situational need. If someone asks me, "Could you go x?", for a good reason, I'm sure I would oblige.
I've already made it clear that I vehemently despise disagree with Valve's unlockable content model. I fully support class limits on a "regulation" server for a period of time after unlockable updates. It's been conjectured that the Heavy's achievements do not have as many esoteric hard-to-gets as the last ones did and is more conducive to acquiring through normal play, so yeah. |

I agree with Class Limits, come on, was there any counter attack when you were playing against 5 pyros? A team full of engies/spies on 2fort is annoying, so does only scouts on labor or warpath.

People just need to pick classes more politely.
I am constantly looking at the class select screen to see when the class I am currently playing is over like 2/3. If there is an empty offensive class that isn't spy/sniper(fuck that would make me more useless), I will switch to it. I feel guilty when my team is composed of a lot of one class. |

I say yes;Â While it would be ideal that people choose their classes politely or that they pay attention to the number of a certain class already on your team, I highly doubt that it will actually be put into general practice. Unless someone points it out, most people aren't looking too hard or don't particularly care at any given time. Even when pointed out some people still don't care/switch, so having a plugin that enforces this for you seems to be the only option.

This is how everyone should be playing, I also constantly check what my team's make-up is and switch when appropriate. I'm sure you've heard me plenty of times bitch when I join a game, join a class I want to play, only to have 3 - 4 other people decide to pick that class. Then I swap out to something else. Id really like to see some sort of dynamic limits based on population Scouts - 3 or 4 - any more and its like old granary matches, this is especially bad on any linear CP map Pyros - 3 - get too many nubs holding down mouse1 and running at people and the game overall just becomes a lot less fun Soldiers - 3 or 4 Demos - 3 - Spam grenades, enough said Heavy - 3 - Already in place on #1 and no matter what this poll is, its going to be in place, I don't want to see gameplay ruined because everyone and their mother wants to play heavy to get their unlocks Engineer - 3 - Breaks a lot of maps if you spam enough of them, and don't give me any bull about using demos to counter, good luck getting enough people to do something about it in a pub Medic - 3 - Too many chefs makes a bad dish, a few bad medics actually make it harder for a good one to do their job effectively Sniper - 2 or 3 - Any more and your team gets rolled Spy - 2 or 3 - Ever play spy alone, then 2 or 3 other spies that suck start playing spy, makes your job infinitely harder There is no 'class countering' in pubs, the coordination does not exist, period I still fail to see the issue here, you are not being told how to play the game, just saying 'hey, this class is full, pick another you feel comfortable with'. With only a 12 man server, a worse case scenario would be having four classes (OUT OF NINE) being played, if you have a problem playing more than a few classes I suggest you GTFO and go play halo 3. Even though I tend to load into the maps first, I always wait a bit to let other people pick some classes and go from there. And I'll never play Sniper/Spy unless there are none on the team (on the basis of I rarely see the need for more than one of those classes).
However if other people don't want to be as courteous as me, I'm fine with forcing them to be >=o. The only thing I'd miss is when enough people get bored and stack a class for the lulz, but that very rarely happens in pub play... No limits or loose ones, except maybe during class updates.Â

I just check the class balance often. If the team needs something I'll switch, if there's too much of what I am I'll switch. That's the way people should be. However as we know how people should play and how they play in reality are often different. As much as it pains me to say so I think we do need class limits. It might stop someone from playing the one class they like, but it allows both sides to enjoy a better experience. Who knows some people might actually learn to vary their skills and find a new favorite class.

People don't buy a game to be told what part of the game they can/can not play at any given time by overseeing admins.
That said, while I fully approve of rules, regulations, and enforcement on the servers, the more of the game you take out of the game, the less the server becomes. To many enforced rules can be incredibly unappealing to a player. If I did not know or play with this community, theres no fucking way in hell I would randomly decided to play on the BRbu servers right now. Without skins, enforced class limits, no crits, 15 second mic spam ban for what is it? 3 hours now?. The weapon skins were something I was going to try out to make TF2 a bit more interesting and fun for my self until I realized the servers did not allow them. Like I said, if it weren't for the community it self, I wouldn't be playing on the servers, just as a normal player, the servers wouldn't appeal to me at all. :-\ However, as I discussed before, the people on the servers are what keep me playing Tf2 in the first place, and what keep it interesting. |

Yeah, #2 gets more pub nubs, and therefore the more unsavory elements of PC gaming online.
