all snipers have to to is aim, heck the maps even tell them where to stand, with all the other classes theres something you can do to piss then off at any range, snipers just stand as far back as possable and get cheap instant kills, theres no bullet delay like all the other weapons, you click on it, you've hit it, the dot doesnt sway , shit it even stays still thile moving. its just seems they have a massive advantage against all classes but a spy and they very rarely cap or defend a point, on a pub server half your team is going to be sniper, and suck at it. new players who cant shoot for shit pick it because its very easy to play and its in the least danger as far as other players go, then worst of all is when they get an ego for being able to bodyshot a scout, in an open area it isnt like scouts can just dodge erraticly, we have to watch out for all the other classes that can down us in 3 hits.

I've mentioned this in game before but my problem is the charged shots. I've got no problem with headshots, they take skill but a chimp could just stand scoped in waiting to point and click at people. I would analogise it to the Spy, where you have an insta-kill action with the backstab but, to compensate, the knife is laughably weak otherwise.

i love playing as a sniper because it's not so easy getting headshots as you all claim it to be, you still need a steady hand and quick reflexes. there's nothing more satisfying than getting a headshot on a scout though ;D

snipers do actually do useful stuff, such as taking out sentries from a distance, taking out medics buffing a heavy, or even before they pop their uber. got a pyro lighting your ass on fire? i'll take him/her out and give you a chance to flee for hp. is that spy in the middle of a backstab animation on you? i'll take him out before he lands it. what's a matter engi? is that demo laying stickies on your stuff? i'll take him out before he can set them off. of course, i can't always pull these off as i miss a lot :-*  but i sure as hell try.

so ya, sniper is not any less meaningful than any other class, but it is def. one of those classes you only need 1, maybe 2 on a 12man team.

I feel the same way, fuckityduckity. Sniper battles are just clashes of ego, I think. But it doesn't mean it's not a useful class. Just the worst.

That's fine, the problem is most Snipers don't do that stuff. They stick on one place and point to the enemy's spawn/Control Point just to get more kills.. even if the sentry is next to them or spies are backstabbing your team on another zone, they just stay still, waiting for another pray that leaves the spawn until a pyro comes and kills them because they don't move

A good example for this are all the snipers on DustBowl/GoldRush

When I play sniper I usually try to prioritize.  Like medics first, then spies (if I can see them), then engineers, then heavies and so on.  Also snipers can be very useful for taking down sentries or helping to take down sentries.  If an engineer is baby sitting a sentry it is at least twice as hard to destroy it.

I think most snipers are amazing players but shitty team players, maybe they should redo the scoring system to reflect the target priorities, or maybe snipers just need to go to some sort of re-education camp.  Preferably one in Siberia.

Not quite sure I understand the Q_Qing. It takes skill to play sniper, and a good one is a valuable asset to the team. Most snipers need to focus a bit more on teamwork instead of racking up points, but that could be said of a lot of classes and players.

I know that Sniper is an important class and can be valuable to a team.  That said, nothing sucks fun out of the game more than a really good sniper on the opposing team who can kill anyone who walks out of the base.
