I gotta say, I decided to give those Skullcandy earphones a shot because I'm a cheap bastard, and I'm really regretting it. Put em in out of the store, and I was super underwhelmed by the sound, but I really want something comfortable because the old ipod earphones iritate my ear really fast. And they are REALLY comfortable. An hour after I get home, they already sound like fucking Rice Krispies with all this fucking Snap Crackle Pop shit going on (shitty solder job or something).
Anyone got suggestions for some nice headphones/earphones for $100 tops? I'm in desparate need of something, and I'd like them to be not bulky as all fuck. So it turns out the snap crackle pop wasn't from the earphones. It's from when I moved the earphones over to my laptop. Apparently my laptop sucks. :'(Â :'(Â :'(Â :'(Â :'(Â :'(Â :'(Â :'(Â :'( I'm gonna give them a listen to on my ipod tonight and post my impressions if I remember. So you aren't even going to bother trying an exchange for a non-broken pair that might possibly be win?

Sony's headphones have always failed on deep bass and I blew them up or made them distort quite soon... And I'm rarely ever depressed... quite happy actually... For the record I got the Skullcandy Titan Stero Earbuds. After giving them a go on my ipod and my desktop computer (not my laptop, which is having sounds problems atm), I'm pretty satisfied with them. For in-ear buds, they handle a larger chunk of the lower frequencies than most earbuds I've owned. Listening to Ministry of Sound's Maximum Bass was actually tolerable, so that's a big plus for me. Considering I got them on sale, and I just wanted something to replace my ipod bus, I'm really happy with my purchase. Hopefully they won't crap out on me... Knocks on wood
Oh, and the L/R channels are definitely marked on these. Ripped like paper raped with ease hey scrub nerd pyros suck on these |

The Ink'd are rated for a wider frequency response then the Titans (starting 10hz lower even) and are $15 vs $50

Sennheiser HD 202's are great. Good sound quality and I got them for $20 with free shipping from BSW. Not to mention they arrived in 3 days. If you're willing to spend more I hear the HD 280's are awesome. If you have really big ears or a big head they aren't the greatest though.

Ended up getting some Westone UM1s
http://www.earphonesolutions.com/westoneum1.html They fit like earplugs- super comfy and isolating. The bass is just the right amount for me, and the mids are super-smooth. Treble could be better, but overall I really like them. I know, it's a lot to spend on earphones, but they were a gift and I listen to a lot of music/podcasts. A++++ WOULD BUY AGAIN, if you want some quality IEMs but don't wanna drop $200. |
