Ring Tones, Away Messages

Alright I'll be honest, I'm not really someone who's very "in" to cell phones. I love almost all electronics except for the damn cell phones. This is becuase I just hate talking on the phone in general.

Well of course, I NEVER check my voice mail..like..ever. My old "leave a message" message was just that. "Leave a message". Nothing more. No 'You have reached the phone of". No "His this is ___s phone". No happy greeting. Just a really unenthusiastic: "Leave a message." This was mostly to get people to not actually...uh..leaving a message. 

It failed. People still leave me messages, I still delete them without warrant and without listing to them. Hopefully before I even get the chance to hear who the fuck left it.

So now I have set my "Leave a message" message to play Rick Astleys "Never gonna give you up" for as long as it possibly can before it gets to the "beep".

In other news: All my ring tones are from old school videogames: Mario, Starfox, Kirby, Megaman, Zelda and Tetris (techno mix).

I barely use my cell phone, since I can just talk to most people whenever there's something important.  Even when I do, I forget to listen to my messages until it's way too late.

When you wrote Away Messages..it made me think of IM. And my favorite misc away message is...

i have verizon, who doesn't let you use your own custom ringtones, you HAVE to buy them, and theres no way in hell I'm going to pay $3 - 5 for a short little jingle

I want to get a device capable of allowing a custom MP3.  Otherwise I use the most non-irritating, non-attention-getting one I can find. 

... Hell, the only thing that prompted me to get a cell phone was a bad experience on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge with a water pump failure.

Not true. If you grab a bluethooth dongle all you need to do is use BitPim and rename your .mp3 ringtone to .mid and drop it into a specific directory in your phone. I used to do it back when I had a verizon phone.

On my iphone though there is an app called Phonezap (Cydia). You can just choose a start/end time of any song on your phone and cut it into a ringtone, free.

The only way I had found was to hack the bios of the phone and Id rather not risk bricking it

It may depend on the type of phone you have. I did this with an LG (older type, no new fancy pants type).

I believe mine was from www.cellphonecables.com they come with software to manage your handset

but then again, my phone is like 3 years old, so I'm guessing most of yours came with cables...  yeah, do what hph says.

My current favorite ringtone is the tf2 rap remix, and yes also Rick Astley's infamous song. That is a special ringtone for a friend so that she can rickroll me whenever she calls me :3

Use phonezoo.com. The songs are kinda distorted (on my phone at least, a Samsung Verizon), but it works and it's free.

I plugged my cell phone into a USB porn, downloaded a torrent for a program that allowed me to access the inside of the phone, and then proceeded to chop music from videogame songs into clips long enough to be ring tones and added them to the ring tone folder. I use a Razor.

all my ringtones are megaman based.  So far I have wilts stage, quickman, flashman, crash man, and woodman assigned.  Would have more but the process of converting midi's to mp3 then to iPhone ringtones is too taxing at the moment
