Well I just got something that lets me play such things and I was wondering if any of you knew any good apps/games.
I've got the Ipod one, and an organizer so far and they're decent. Any other good ones out there? (There's already a thread for ds games so keep suggestions to homebrew.)Â |

Homebrew is a lie and you're lying to yourself.
But, seriously, Nitro's a pretty nifty tracker for messing about with beats on the move. |

Colors - This is a must have.
nesDS StillAliveDS - Kinda like Portal flash, but on the DS! Lots of custom maps to download too. |

all this homebrew makes me wish I never sold my DS years ago.
I'm definitely saving for one again. |

what do you all need for homebrew, i know i could just google it, but i like conversation.
-edit- google just got me more confused... All i understand is that i should get a NDS SuperKey for slot one but slot-2 is something im not finding a clear answer for. all you need is a flashcart in slot 1 and a microsd.
popular flashcarts are M3 Simply or the R4. Personally, I wuv my CycloDS Evolution. |

only reason why the R4 is so high is because it's import and iirc japanese/chinese/whichever goddamn asians it is is trying to get the production of it stopped

I know it's still a work in progress, but I can't believe nobody's mentioned Cave Story DS.
It makes me incredibly sad. :< |

The current latest build of Cave Story DS (about a year old) only lets you run around numerous levels in the game selectable by the touchscreen. The newest version has added NPC's that do not hurt you yet and there are no weapons. That is why nobody has mentioned Cave Story DS. Anyway, having recently gotten myself a CycloDS, I've been looking around the homebrew scene a lot. There is an excellent working Lemmings port that is very fun to play. http://www.mrdictionary.net/lemmings/ There is also a very good working Doom DS port. http://www.dsdoom.com/ (You have to find the WAD's yourself) There is ScummVM DS which obviously lets you run some of your favorite adventure games. http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/ It works okay and it does get updated occasionally but the DS can't handle all games. Then there is DScent which emulates Descent. I haven't tried it yet and it seems it has stopped being worked on but apperently what is done works very well and smoothly. http://blog.dev-scene.com/kayvenm/ You need the Descent game files. Then obviously as has already been said, there are emulators. nesDS is the best working DS NES emulator. It has great compatibility. http://www.cs.utah.edu/~tew/nesDS/ jEnesisDS is the best running Genesis emulator. It works very well from what I've used (Earthworm Jim, Contra: Hardcorps etc) http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthr...p?t=106665 Also, this emulator is still being actively worked on so will improve in time. The best SNES emulator is SNEmulDS. It works okay, there is no really good SNES emulator on DS. Don't expect too much. http://www.snemul.com/ds/ He said at the start of summer that it wasn't dead but uh... he hasn't said anything since. I assume you exploded. Lameboy is a very good working Gameboy emulator. http://lameboy.nutki.com/ There is also a port of Quake 1 and 2 for DS. http://quake.drunkencoders.com/ Quake 1 runs pretty well but still strains in its current state. Quake 2 requires an external ram expansion. If you don't have one I would reccomend the EZ Flash 3 in 1. It also lets you play GBA roms that you 'backed up'. Well, every game I've mentioned has been either a port or emulator. Hmmm.... Well if you want to pursue this more then keep tabs at these websites. http://gbatemp.net/index.php?act=home http://www.dcemu.co.uk/ GBATemp focuses on DS homebrew and DCEmu focuses on homebrew across all platforms. http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=70463 This is an old list of the top 30 homebrew programs for DS. Enjoy. Feeling generous? Karf is a respectable human being. http://i.imgur.com/MTVw5.png Thank you, Mr. Pelican. |
