I'm going off-topic here :, but we will make a decision Sunday night / Monday morning.  We live in a trailer, so we cannot stay in that structure.  We will either tough it out in a friend's house (which sits on a slab) a small distance away, or we will abscond to Mississippi.  We are dreading that drive, and since contraflow will go into effect Sunday morning, we would be cutting across all that mess.  It is extremely likely we'll stay.  We've pretty much got everything outside buttoned up already, and we've got lots of dry food supply and bottled water and all that good stuff.  I'm not looking forward to cramming my pets into pet carriers, that's for sure.

They refuse to move the projected path away from RIGHT ON FUCKING TOP OF ME, so as of right now, the eye will come close to or directly hit my neighborhood.  I just can't get myself worried about this yet.  Several areas of this state have been devestated by hurricanes throughout history, but even though I've always lived 30+ miles from the coast, I've been blessed to have never lost a house to one.  Who knows; maybe my luck will run out this time.  But I just don't feel panic or dread.  I just know that thing is going to peter out.  Or, I hope it does.

I'm not hearing anything about that yet.  I'm hearing more stories about, "pftt, fuck that shit, we're gone."  You're gonna have diehards, anyway.  So much preparedness stuff is being triggered early this time around compared to Katrina.  New Orleans may be dodging the bullet 'cause the thing keeps leaning to the west, so I don't think it'll be a media focal point this time unless all the stories are about, "WOW, NEW ORLEANS REALLY LUCKED OUT THIS TIME oh and some other cities were wiped off the map BUT NEW ORLEANS IS FINE THANK GOODNESS ".  Nothing on them, jus' frowning at the media.

I'm not refusing to evacuate, per se.  I am indeed evacuating the fuck out of this mobile home.    We're within a voluntary evacuation zone which covers all points south of Interstate 10, but the coastal parishes have of course been mandatory for a while now.

Your lucky you are a decent ways away from the coast, it can lose strength pretty quickly once it hits land.  In any case I'm glad to see you are making plans to go.  But if it helps any they hurricane forecasts are almost never right, so you could be the safest from the hurricane right now
