This was originally going to be a P&CP article with aerox but I found the list in my docs folder so I thought Id share. What are your most memorable moments?

***SPOILERS AHOY***

10) Pokemon R/B - Gary Oak - Ok, so you just finished off Lance, half of your team is either KO'd or on their last limb, you are out of PP for all your killer moves, and who do you still have to fight? Gary mother-fucking Oak, god damn you Gary. Also very epic music, this thing pushed the gray brick to its limits.

9) Fallout - The Master - Epic on so many levels that you don't even need to fight the guy, you can blow up the base he's in with a fucking nuke, you can outwit him and convince him to commit suicide, or you can fight him heads up. The latter choice is not advised as he psychically lowers all of your stats to like 20% and has dual mini-Gatling lasers.

8) Descent I - Charon Mine Boss - Summons in random enemies into the boss chamber, check, teleports, check, goes invisible, check, metric-fuck ton of health, check, one-hit kill weapon, check. All of that is on fucking EASY, I can't even fathom fighting this guy on insane, its just not possible, thankfully some nice designer scattered some invulnerability items in the room with the boss (only 2), but even with those and a FULL aresonal of ammo, you will still burn through all of it before you take this monstrosity down.

7) Mario 64 - Final Bowser - Best of the Mario bosses, and that last toss on the star-shaped ring is the subject of much first-timers frustration. You can always expect a good fight out of a mario game, and Mario 64 delivered in a way that will never be replicated.

6) Megaman II - Alien Wiley - Another skull?! God damnit, oh shit he's really an alien, fuck why doesn't my trusty kill-anything that moves metal blade hurt him...Bubble lead, the fucking bubble? Fuck you capcom, fuck you.

5) Super Metroid - Motherbrain - The only 16-bit sprite based game with no text that can bring a gamer to tears, RIP baby metroid, RIP. An amazing ending to one of the most amazing games ever made.

4) LoZ Windwaker - Ganondorf - Yea the game looks kiddy, but this boss fight isn't, its set in an epic collapsing sea that is about to swallow hyrule, and the triforce isn't even at stake anymore, its been used, Ganondorf already lost, he just wants to kill you, and its a harder fight than any other ganon fight in any other Zelda game. Plus you bury your sword in his forehead.

3) FFVI - Kefka - Epic, best FF fight, not necessarily the hardest, but hands down the best villain. He isn't a puppet to some higher power, no sum of all evil, no ancient evil, no genetic engineering, no demon, just a man, a man who desires power above all else, and a horrible human being. Also, dancing mad (all 4 parts) is the best boss music ever. Also kekekekekekeke

2) Secret of Mana - Mana Beast - Not as epic as some of the others on the list, but damnit, if you played through the game with two other friends it was a damn good fight, a bit of a challenge too if you didn't over level, since only one weapon in the game does any damage to it and you need to time summoning it, since it only lasts a few seconds before you must summon it again.

1) Earthbound - Heavily Armored Pokey / Giygas(Split into 2 videos) - Rarely is there a way to beat a boss without 'killing' them so to speak. The first stage has some epic music and looks creepily like a giant womb. Born of a traumatic childhood experience in the mind of Itoi, Giygas still gives me goosebumps, the stuttering and staggering speech where he practically begs you to kill him. The only way to beat him is to use Paula's 'pray' command, after which all the people who you touched on your journey send their love to you and that is what destroys Giygas. Pokey still gets away, to star in Mother 3, which I hear has a better fight than this, but I have yet to play it ;)

1. Dante vs Vergil in DMC3. Fucking epic shit, two brothers beating the shit out of each other in the demon world because they enjoy it.

2. Final boss battle in MGS4. Anybody who's played it/watched it will be able to tell you how awesome it is.

3. The Magus battle in Chrono Trigger. Simply awesome.

4. Not really a boss battle, but it triggered the ending for Crisis Core so it oughta be as good as one. Zack fighting the entire Shinra army and getting them down to just 3 people left. Zack moved all slow and could barely swing his sword and couldn't use any of his specials but the roulette kept on coming up to taunt you. Such a tear-jerking moment.

Those are all I remember right now, but will edit in more if I can think of some.

The fucking cake from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, or the Axem Rangers. By far better than the final fight against Smithy.

Lou in GHIII, motherfucker that he is.

Heinrich, from Conker's Bad Fur Day. Especially with the fourth wall breaking at the end.

And with strange aeons, even Death may lay down in the street and die.

The Hydra in god of war.  There is no way, playing that game for the first time, you don't feel like the biggest bad ass of all time taking him down.  One of the best moments in gaming.

Magus in Chrono Trigger.  Right from the the point where Glenn cuts open the cave with the Masamune, through a wonderfully designed and atmospheric castle, three unique henchman, and then the music slooooowly leading in as the candles light up.  That was the most epic shit ever.

On a similar kind of tip, I loved the idea of the fights with Anna Navarre and Gunther in Deus Ex. Being able to completely avoid a physical confrontation felt so perfectly in keeping with the rest of the gameplay and it was so rewarding the first time I actually left the doctor at UNATCO and then like half a game later found out there was an alternate reward for doing so.

Also, Shadow of the Colossus.

(in no particular order)

3.  Crono versus Lavos entity.

2.  Battle against Nyx avatar in persona 3

1.    Travis touchdown versus henry in no more heroes

At the moment I can't think of anymore that hasn't been mentioned

Note to self:  Finish Fallout, Chrono Trigger, and FFVI.

I loved all the boss battles in Psychonauts.  They were all great, but if I had to pick one it would be the battle with Kochamara.

the final giant Drunk guy on Bubble Bobble. I've played that game since i'm 8 and i still can't find any pattern on his attack, also, they say that an evil wizard stole your girlfriend and ta-dah! your evil wizard was no more than a giant bottle throwing drunk Big Grin

Gyigas (no spoiler here), that boss battle is just amazing, plus the ending is awesome

And Orochi, from KoF '97. The King of Fighters saga is recognized by their almost impossible final bosses, like Magaki, from KoF XI, but Orochi, besides being a God, he takes the body from a boy who was participaating (who was his reincarnation). Seeing Chris exploding and letting Orochi out of his body (wearing his white Dockers) is just... amazing, way too much for a '97 game

I wouldn't say the final boss of SotC (as per Caff's requisite) was the strongest by any means though. Undoubtedly epic but crossed that line out forgetting you were actually fighting a being and just felt like you were working your way through/up a level.

Good choices, except MGS3.  Screw that game.
