Isn't there actual health consequences to eating meat of the same species? Something in it that will make things of the same species sick? I remember hearing something about that somewhere, like how inbreeding leads to genetic defects.

The risk is that illnesses cross the species barrier a lot less easy... Eating meat from ones own species propagates illnesses a lot easier. Although the further away an animal is from your own species, the harder illnesses cross... (That's why there are things like mad cow disease and not mad fish disease...

Actually even when bringing up a calf without a mother, as we've had to do on the farm on occasion, they still don't love you and trust you like a puppy does. They know that you'll feed them, also similar to a puppy, but they don't want to cuddle you, don't want to play games with you, don't lick your face when you're sad.

I can see the cultural thing, and in some ways it is true; perhaps I simply can't get past eating something that actually gives two shits about me. If circumstances came down to it I'm sure I probably could, though of course I would still feel guilty. But for now? My own experiences have shown me these circumstances, and so I will go with them.

Ok, firstly, the dogs that are eaten in Korea are not your family pet that you've grown to love and care for. Like I had mentioned, they are raised on meat farms just like any other animal that gets consumed (cow, pig, chicken). They are most tender and delicious but because of the social stigma most people will never know this  Sad

But yeah, please don't get me wrong. I do not wish to eat your pet dog  Big Grin

I dunno about fried oreos but fried pickles are especially good.  Although in Florida you have to go north to go south.

No really though, they have dog farms in Korea where they're raised specifically for food just like cattle and dog meat is seriously the most tender I've ever eaten. Delicious!

thats when i pressed the smite button.

smited you too exanimo for encouraging it.

Someone is not very accepting of foreign culture. You deserve a smite for such an arbitrary remark.
