I bought it. My shitty laptop keeps crashing after the cell stage. I'm currently looking for a solution. I'm also somewhat pissed off.

Happened to my brother's laptop too. He just skipped the cell stage at the main menu and was able to continue playing.

The first 4 stages is a great warm-up to the game.....but Space Stage is a real chore. I dislike it.....a lot.

    You may have multiple Spore accounts for each installation of the game.

However, here's what "EA_violet" wrote on the EA forums in response to complaints that players couldn't set up multiple accounts:

    That section in the manual was a misprint and will be corrected in future printings of the manual. There is one Spore registration/account per game/serial code so you are correct in that you cannot make multiple accounts at this time.

Say what you will about supporting Mr Wright and company for developing games, but this is just ridiculous. Sorry, but when copy-protection becomes this ridiculous (see Bioshock), there's no way I would ever pay money to support that. I guess I will go ahead and pirate it. :\

Yea I want to buy it, but I don't have a lot of money and I keep hearing so much negative shit about what EA did to it.  I'm going to "try" it and if it is worth it I will pick up a hard-copy in a real store to get the benefit of the online content.

Also, I saw in Wal Mart the white hard plastic box that is supposed to have all the extras.  Anyone got that?  It's ludicrously expensive, if I recall correctly  :o .

My wife got sucked into this game, we were playing together on my laptop and she kept stealing the mouse.  It sucks because since she doesn't play PC games the camera was going all over the place and she was accidentally telling our dude to go jump in the ocean and stuff.

This game made me sad.  Creature/Tribal/Civilization stage was so terribly disappointing. 

Will Wright promises the ability to socialize with other creatures but its just a music minigame?  Same thing with the tribal stage:  All you do to "socialize" is to either play music, give gifts, or set off fireworks? 

And how terrible is the Civilization stage?  Thought there would be some strategy to it but you just get 3 buildings to build and all you do is amass an army of religious units OR military units and just rush a city.

Space stage is pretty damn fun though.  But its just too bad that the other modes marr the open-ness of Space.
