Trust me, once a guy finds a chick who is actually pretty laid back, doesn't take five hours to get dressed, plays video games with them, loves geeky activities, doesn't drag him out shopping and is above average looking, they don't know how to handle it.

No.  If I met a girl like this now, who was single, my knee jerk reaction would be to marry her, asap (this ignores a great number of other considerations).  I've had a girlfriend who loves video games and anime but was prohibitively clingy, I have been a victim of this, I might even have been damaged by it, but it leaves me in a much better position to appreciate "laid back."

There are certain things that can happen to a person in this life.  Sad. Sad. Things.  I don't care who you are, there is some tragedy that can befall you that will make you break down in tears on the spot.  It will make you want to not be around people, it will make you not want to get out of bed, you will not want to eat, you be clinically depressed.  You might become maladjusted (or you could just be a teenager) and grasp for acceptance in subculture.  Sometime there is a good reason for this to happen, sometimes people are just trying to look cool.  Because for some reason they equate "cool" (cool, like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder) with "lamenting my horrible life" when in fact, their life is pretty good, and sometimes you wish something really bad might happen to them, so they could build some character, or at least have a good excuse for the all the lamenting.  If you were really making a cry for help I don't see why'd you go emo anymore, anyone who shops at Hot Topic to rebel against the mainstream/to stand out against society is either blind, an idiot, or both.

i havent had an emo moment.. but i know sumone who did.. i had a one night stand a while ago with this girl i met at a bar (yea yea i know) anyway, she wakes me up at 8am and says i have to leave cuz her fiance is coming home.. i was like WTF?!?!  i look around the house and all i see are pics of her and him, i guess i didnt notice, it was like in the movie Borat when he is in the Jew house and starts to see all the pics of the jews and the horror music plays.. remember?  anway, I was really pissed that she would do something so shitty.. so i left a note on the door before i left.  "I just left your house.. I once allowed a boy to make me cry uncontrollably for about an hour. Add to this the fact that I was coming down with a wicked sore throat, could barely sleep or eat (later found out it was strep throat) was emotionally and physically drained from being sick + I had no insurance to see a doctor and was freakin' out about that. So, of course, I couldn't put up with his usual cruelty in the guise of honesty.

Suffice it to say, I ended up sleeping on the couch that night.

People seem to be afraid to speak their minds even to their partners or potential future partners; right then and there I think there's a huge problem. I'm not saying you have to be hugely open and honest about everything, but I -AM- seeing a lot of people talk about how they acted a certain way, were dumped, and didn't learn until later that their actions were causing another to be uncomfortable. Both parties could have asked if they thought something was off; maybe just a few words or questions could have warded off a whole break-up, changed everything.

Sad thing is, my last real girlfriend (as in more than just a half dozen dates) was constantly getting pissed at me for checking if things bothered her. Mind you, she has aspirations of being a trophy wife apparently (or at least said so when I broke it off).
