Click: Not very long, or informative but I can't help but get excited. I know a certain admin isn't a huge fan of "idiot's System Shock," but I rather like Bioshock, and sort of preferred it's story and atmosphere to SSs (sorry for the sacrilege >.<) Anyone else hyped for this, or is this just pointless cashworing of a series?

Well, doesn't really say much about what the sequel would even be about, other than inviting rampant speculation. Which I guess is the point of it.

I think it depends on what they decided to do with the story. If they make a prequel and basically mirror the original SS story, then its pointless cash whoring.
If they make a sequel that takes place after the first game, and take it in a new direction I could give them props. I liked Bioshock, while I bash it for being a carbon copy of SS2's story and dumbing things down it was masterfully atmospheric and one of the better games of 2007. That being said, I think they could do a better job on 2, especially if they expand the plasmid/RPG aspects and make them more like Deus Ex/System Shock 2. I'm not going to try to read into any hype with this, I think too often games get over hyped then we have such high expectations that they will inevitably let us down. Â Sig by Joel |

Wasn't SS2 better than SS? Wonder what ending this will follow. It almost has to be the "bad" ending.

I think it would be amazing if they did a sequel set in the surface world, where plasmid powers are commonplace and the government is breaking down due to the fact that anyone with the money can incinerate anyone else. A prequel, on the other hand, sounds like unoriginal garbage.Â

Possibly a 'return to rapture' or something of that nature. Though I remember hearing that the 'sequel' would be a prequel  Sig by Joel |

As long as they get the difficulty right this time.
First it was challenging-Murderous Then it was piss-easy. Hopefully it will be easy-hard this time. |

If you check the Bioshock wiki, they're planning on making this a continued thing, releasing a new game every few years. It's cashwhoring, fuck them.

On Dtoid they were saying it was going to be both a sequel and a prequel. So yea whatever that means.
I'm holding out for BioShock meets Quantum Leap. The idea of someone from the future randomly jumping into people in the past's bodies I think is not explored enough in entertainment. |

There was no good or bad ending to SS, you defeat Shodan cause if you didn't, she was going to crash like a huge space station into earth and kill everyone.  Sig by Joel |

For me it did at least. |

For the love of god please stop cutting!", or something like that) I did play for a half hour then got bored, but picked it up again so I could see that bit and save my first little sister. If anything, I really want to get the game once I get the chance. I played the demo and really enjoyed it due to the lack of difficulty (which I sometimes find enjoyable, like in horror games for some reason...), beautiful atmosphere, incredible voicework, and immersiveness. Plus I love steampunk things. No idea why.
I enjoyed the demo and want the full version soon...after my pc upgrades. D: |
