If youl'd played KotoR, there's a back story about a big war with the Mandalorians, and you get one in your party.

Yeah even ignoring KoToR lore, the Mandalorians got wiped out during the sith war against the Republic ages ago.  Their berzerker ways and "never day die" attitude resulted in massive casualties on their side.  Then due to civil wars and such against eachother the Mandalorian race was widdled down.

So if you could be a Mandalorian in ToR it would most likely be considerable to a Jedi in Episode 3.  So it would be lame to be able to play as one and see them running around everywhere when they were very few of them.

According to the wikipedia page on Mandalorians, they are still well around during the time frame of this game, their major collapse was only before the fall of the Old Republic, and this still takes place well before that.

Boba/Jango Fett aren't mandalorians, they just wear their 'style' of armor

That's probably why since I never got too into the KOTOR games.  Don't know why, but I think it might've been the combat or something I didn't care for.

My God, reading through this topic makes me realize how much of a Star Wars geek I am. I'm sitting here thinking of corrections to everyones comments in regards to the EU and the Old Republic.

Also, new trailer is epic and it's been making me consider getting this on Day 1. Oh God help me.

It's pretty but it's just a CG cutscene.  However the game basically sounds like it's going to be a full singleplayer KotoR, that then has MMO/PvP shit after you "beat" the game, so it could still be good I guess.

A very nice CG cutscene indeed. The game doesn't look too shabby either. It's not quite cartoony, but it's not realistic either.
