I would love to but I live in Illinois and since the state usually ends up voting 95% democratic either of my votes won't really matter due to the stupid electoral college system.
The day that Illinois votes Republican then I will start to vote. |

1. Yes, voting starts tomorrow, but I am getting a head-start on my GOTV efforts. Look for results getting fun ~8pm EST (utc+5).
2. There are many house seats and senate races up for grabs (not to mention some good state-level contests), so you should still be getting out to vote/support your downticket races. |

McCain isn't expected to win Texas by more than 5 points I think. I live in IL and I'm going out to vote and Im voting straight democrat, the republican party deserves to be punished, severely for the last 8 years and needs a large voter mandate in all states that the neocons and the religious right will no longer be tolerated in this country. You're right but I haven't been keeping up with the house and senate seats. Ignorant of me I know but I am lazy and I am pretty satisfied with the way things are at the moment within my area. [/quote] This but I'd like to add anti-intellectualism which I find very insulting. Â Also this whole "real america" crap. Â Even though technically I am from a city in "Real America." Â It's stupid and divisive and even though I'm more libertarian I can't support a party that trucks with that nonsense. |

You should still go out and vote, as there will be lots of local and statewide propositions and measures for you to vote on. Â Those don't go down party lines as often, and the votes are important.
Additionally, even though the state seems blue, people often vote differently (in terms of party) for president than they do local government, and even state government. Â Many of the southern states support "Dixiecrat" senators over the republican ones (although they're not really that different), they just all vote Republican for the presidential race. Â North Carolina actually has more registered Democrats than Republicans and they have for years, they just tend to vote Democrat on the state level and Republican on the national level. Don't be a dick. Â Go vote. |

Yeah, just think what would happen if everyone who thought their vote was worthless decided "What the hell, I'll try it anyway."

I put this on my facebook once, but I'll put it here too.
If you vote based on party affiliation alone, then you are a tool. |

Give me and my fellow members of the apathy party a bit more credit than that. If I lived in Ohio or (in my worst nightmares) Indiana I would definitely vote everytime, knowing that my vote would help for the cause. But ever since I can remember a Republican candidate has had pretty much a snowballs chance in hell in winning the state of IL. |
