-You can pick up and play it years from now and still enjoy it.
-If you trade it you will hate yourself every time someone talks about it.
-People will be talking about it in the future.  You know the far future.  Like years after it came out.
-It's considered an example of what future games should be like.
-It sets a new trend or idea that many other games will try to copy.
-It made you feel more immersed than you are used to and that feeling throws you off at first.
-When you are older you will tell the young kids how disadvantaged they are not to play it and how they should play it now (and they actually like it if they do).
-It expands what is considered possible to do with the videogame medium: in storytelling, interactivity, immersion, emotion, etc.

None.

None of the games I can think of at the moment, and none of the games of mention so far fit those criteria, in my opinion.

If I were forced to pick the one that most closely fits those criteria, it would be World of Warcraft. Not that WoW is/was my favorite game, but I think it fits those criteria best. Everyone will remember the first trip to the deadmines, grinding for days to buy a mount, thrill of the initial PvP encounters.

Fuck that, I just remember Zack and Wikki. So underexposed I forgot how great that was - - Not enough games that do things differently like that.

Oh shit I forgot Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.  That game had me amazed and in a state of total glee from beginning to end.

Amazing games:
Portal
Left 4 Dead
Portal
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Portal
Half-Life 2: Episode Two (inconsistency ftw)
Portal
Phoenix Wright series (screw you apollo justice your not phoenix wright your apollo justice)

Games that perked my interest:
Sam & Max series (funny, and old fashioned point and click adventure titles)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Bioshock
Crysis (Not great, but I played it simply so I could drool at the visuals)
Max Payne series (poetic story telling? bullet-time fun? guns!? I'm in!)
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros Brawl

No offense, but I thought the story in most of the MGS games to be convoluted slop (except MGS 1), game play wise they have all been solid, honestly I think its like that episode of Family Guy where they mention that Stephen king has run out of ideas. When the publisher asks him what his new book is going to be about, he stutters for a second then picks up a lamp and starts poking the publisher. At which point he sighs, relents, and asks when he can have it by cause its going to sell a boatload regardless.

I'm with you on this one Sponson.

As for my list, I'll think the full one over later, but here's ten particular ones of note that I can rember off the top of my head. (only the top four are in any order.)

10. Portal
9. Super Mario Galaxy
8. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
7. LoZ: The Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass
6. Super Smash Brothers Brawl
5.  Team Fortress 2
4. MGS series
3. Ace Attorney series (Phoenix > Apollo, but he's still a pretty cool guy)
2. Mother 3
1. Eternity's Child

Not really, but I couldn't find the clip, point being, Kojima ran out of ideas a while ago. He doesn't want to do a 5, but he will, and if he dosen't someone else will ass-rape the franchise with it because Konami, not Kojima owns the rights.

Indeed. Didn't help I couldn't find a PS2 version and my PSP's controller nob thingy was semi-busted. Still managed to get to the first part of Ben-k though.

Final Fantasy IX, probably the best of the FF games after they hit Playstation, really loved it and I've played it through twice now, which is a huge thing with me and RPGs. (I have a great memory when it comes to games, so I can't really go back through a linear RPG without getting bored 20 minutes in as I remember the story vividly even though it's been years)

Being a Final Fantasy doesn't mean that it is a good game

As 10, 10-2, and 11 showed us. 9 on the other hand, was awesome.
