While Demonoid is certainly safer to use, it's not *that* much safer than ThePirateBay tbh. Don't they still have open registration every few weeks, or did they finally stop doing all that?

Pirate bay is generally better for obscure programs and the like. I don't use it for security or anything, but for instance I searched all the other torrent sites pb, mininova, torrentz, etc. before demonoid, hopped on, and found some retarded program specifically for some class a friend was taking in college that he'd have had to pay like 400$ for or some shit. Honestly I don't remember what it was but this has happened to me a few times. No doubt piratebay is usually easier but demonoid is generally more to the point and slightly more reliable with downloads being what they're labeled.

There are countless private trackers carrying specialist software that do a better job of it than any general site.
