I marched lead bass as bass 2 in HS.  We wrote a new cadence that was sick for us... I mostly played the snare line haha.  Once we got the 16th note sequences down it sounded sick... too bad when I graduated it all went to crap and they play the old stupid cadence again... fun while it laasted though... played quads at Seton Hall (pep band) for the BBall games (SHU doesnt have football...i know...lame)

Yea. I you have a good bass line, bass 1 and 2 (out of 5-7) will either play/split the written snare parts.
