You ever try rotoscoping?  I did a pretty good picture of my wife that way.  I can't draw for shit either but I can work some magic in Photoshop if I have enough time.

I used to rotoscope effects into stop motion movies back in junior high. So very repetitive.
Mind you I only had paintshop. At least photoshop had a film strip mode.

Now you can just use after-effects and save your sanity.
